Coronation Street viewers believe they’ve uncovered Dee-Dee’s heartbreaking exit plot following news of her departure.
Coronation Street’s Dee-Dee Bailey may be heading for a devastating exit storyline after it was revealed that actress Channique Sterling-Brown has decided to leave the ITV soap.
Channique first stepped onto the cobbles in 2022, and it didn’t take long for Dee-Dee to win over viewers. During her time on the Street, the character has been at the centre of major plots — from her turbulent romance with sinister Joel Deering (Calum Lill) to the near-fatal drama of giving birth to baby Laila earlier this year.
However, this week Channique confirmed that her three-year run on the show has come to an end, leaving many fans heartbroken by the news.
On Instagram, Channique shared a series of photos from her time as Dee-Dee and wrote: “After three incredible, whirlwind years of playing Dee-Dee Bailey, I’ve decided it’s time to say goodbye to the cobbles.”
She continued: “It’s bittersweet to be leaving, but I’m really looking forward to new adventures — and to enjoying my final moments as Princess Diana with all her many expressions.”
Now, devastated fans believe they’ve figured out Dee-Dee’s exit storyline — and it doesn’t look promising. On a Coronation Street Facebook fan page, one viewer commented: “So sad that Dee-Dee is leaving! Loved her character. Do you think she’ll get a happy ending?”
Another replied: “Probably not.” A third fan speculated a shocking death for Dee-Dee, writing: “Wouldn’t be surprised if they killed her off.” Echoing this, a fourth added: “Yeah, same,” accompanied by a crying emoji.
Channique is the latest cast member to say goodbye to the show, joining a number of departures over the past year. Among those who have left are Charlotte Jordan (Daisy Midgeley), Colson Smith (Craig Tinker), Sue Cleaver (Eileen Grimshaw), and Shelley King (Yasmeen Nazir).
This week also saw Jenny Connor (Sally Ann Matthews) exit the cobbles, nearly 40 years after her debut. The former Rovers landlady chose to relocate to Spain to begin a new chapter in her life.
