Coronation Street’s Maggie is reportedly the show’s latest villain, and fans believe they’ve ‘figured out’ who she kills.
Coronation Street fans think they’ve figured out who Maggie Driscoll is set to kill, after rumours surfaced that she’s hiding a deadly secret.
Maggie (played by Pauline McLynn) recently arrived on the ITV soap, appearing on the famous cobbles as Eva Price’s (Catherine Tyldesley) “nightmare mother-in-law.”
Viewers will remember that Eva – last seen in 2018 – made her return to Weatherfield last month when her new husband, Ben Driscoll (Aaron McCusker), surprised her by buying the Rovers Return, making her the new landlady.
Maggie’s arrival also brings her grandsons, Ollie (Raphael Akuwudike) and Will (Lucas Hodgson-Wale), as well as Eva’s daughter, Susie, whom she shares with the late Aidan Connor (Shayne Ward).
Since then, the new family have begun to settle into life on the cobbles. However, drama has already struck, as it’s been revealed that Will is being groomed by his athletics coach in a disturbing new storyline.
On top of that, Maggie has also raised eyebrows among viewers after she discovered something in Ken Barlow’s (William Roache) drawer that visibly shocked her. Although it wasn’t revealed what she found, it clearly left a lasting impact.
This week, reports emerged that Maggie will become the soap’s latest killer, with insiders revealing that she’ll be shown murdering someone in a dramatic flashback episode.
A source told The Sun: “When it’s revealed whose death Maggie was responsible for, it’s going to send shockwaves through Weatherfield — her life will never be the same again.
“The killing took place before she moved into the Rovers Return with her son, daughter-in-law, and grandchildren, and none of them have any idea. But the truth will explode in a major storyline as the festive season approaches.”
Fans have already begun speculating about who Maggie might have killed in the flashback episode. On X, one viewer wrote: “Could it have been Susan, Ken’s daughter and Adam’s mum? They said she died in a ‘car accident,’ but Maggie’s expression completely changed when she opened that drawer at Ken’s. Maybe she saw a photo of Susan — or something connected to Deirdre’s death?”
Another fan agreed, adding: “I thought of Susan too. It was revealed years ago that Billy was in the car that hit her before fleeing the scene — and he’s also being written out. Though you’d think Billy and Maggie would’ve crossed paths by now.”
As viewers will remember, Susan Barlow died off-screen in 2001 following a car crash. It was later revealed that Billy Mayhew (Daniel Brocklebank) had been involved, after he and Gareth Brannigan accidentally collided with her car while fleeing a petrol station robbery.
