Huge Lou development revealed on Coronation Street months after her departure, with a comeback reportedly ‘sealed’.

Coronation Street’s Lou Michaelis hasn’t appeared on screen since July, when she was sent to prison.

Coronation Street has shared a major update on Lou Michaelis just months after her departure.
The troublemaking mum-of-three Lou (Farrel Hegarty) arrived in Weatherfield back in February with her violent husband Mick (Joe Layton). After moving into Mawdsley Street, it didn’t take long for the nightmare neighbours to stir up chaos on the cobbles.

In May, Mick shockingly killed beloved character Craig Tinker (Colson Smith) in a drunken attack — and it later emerged that he had also been abusing Lou.
Soon after, Lou’s own disturbing behaviour came to light when she struck Gary Windass (Mikey North) with a metal pole after he refused to take part in her desperate money-extortion scheme.

After it emerged that Gary was in critical condition in the hospital, viewers soon discovered that Lou had been keeping a bedside vigil, pretending to be his wife. But her motives were anything but innocent — she was the very person who had put him in the hospital in the first place.

Her deception was eventually exposed, leading to her arrest and imprisonment. Following Lou’s downfall, her children Brody (Ryan Mulvey), Joanie, and Shanice were taken in by Sally (Sally Dynevor) and Tim (Joe Duttine) Metcalfe.

Soon after, Joanie was temporarily sent to stay with her aunt after social services discovered she had been hurting her younger sister, Shanice.

This week, the soap shared a major update on Lou, revealing that she had to attend court for a fight in prison. In Friday’s episode (November), Joanie returned to Sally’s, much to the joy of her siblings.

What’s more, amid all the ongoing drama on the soap, a Coronation Street writer seemed to hint earlier this month that Lou is set to return.

On the Stateside podcast, Jan McVerry said: “We introduced the Michaelis family — Lou and Mick — and it was explosive right from the start.

“The viewers hated them, but they brought a lot of drama and left us with a fantastic legacy in Brody.” She added: “It’s not the end of the family. We will be seeing them again.”
