Coronation Street’s Asha Alahan has been having a tough time lately, but viewers are convinced that someone close to her is about to make a return.
Coronation Street could be set to see the surprise return of a former cobbles favourite in a shocking twist involving Asha Alahan, according to fans.
Asha, portrayed by Tanisha Gorey, has been a familiar face on the soap since her on-screen birth in 2009. As the daughter of Dev (Jimmi Harkishin) and Sunita (Shobna Gulati), she has captured the hearts of viewers over the years.
Throughout her time in Weatherfield, Asha has been at the centre of several major storylines — from battling body image struggles to pursuing her dream of becoming a paramedic, her journey has been far from uneventful.
Most recently, in September, she was caught up in a shocking incident when she became the victim of a racist attack by a drunk woman named Naomi while working a shift.
The traumatic incident has taken a toll on Asha’s mental health, causing her to spiral downward. Matters became even worse when her stepmum Bernie (Jane Hazlegrove) tried to get revenge on Naomi, only for her plan to backfire.
This week, the soap delivered a devastating twist when Asha suffered an overdose. In Monday’s episode (October 5), she was found unconscious on a bench.
She was later rushed to hospital, where she regained consciousness — but it was revealed that she had consumed a large number of pills along with alcohol, leading to the overdose.

Long-time viewers will remember that Sunita first appeared on the show back in 2001. As Dev’s wife and the mother of twins Aadi and Asha, she quickly became a fan favourite.
However, after 12 years on the famous cobbles, Sunita’s story came to a tragic end in 2013 when she was killed in a devastating fire at the Rovers Return pub.
