Tina O’Brien from Coronation Street, known for playing Sarah Platt, shared some tragic news.
On Tuesday (18 November), Coronation Street’s Tina O’Brien shared the heartbreaking news of her father’s passing, emotionally saying her “heart is heavy.”
The 42-year-old Sarah Platt actress took to Instagram to announce the sad loss.
In an Instagram Story, Tina wrote: “I’ve been a little quiet on here. My dad recently passed away.
I haven’t quite known how to put it into words. My heart is very heavy, but I’m grateful he is no longer suffering.
Thank you to everyone who’s supported me through this difficult time. I love you. You mean the world to me xx.”
She concluded her heartfelt message with a rainbow, star, heart, and praying hands emoji.
The actress has portrayed Sarah Platt on Coronation Street since 1999, with other credits including Call the Midwife, Waterloo Road, and Doctors.
Tina’s most recent Instagram posts were in October and early November, where she shared a spa getaway, writing: “A few weeks ago I took a little pause,” and adding, “It was exactly what I needed… peaceful and a bit like coming back to myself.”
She also offered fans a peek into her recent activities, including filming festive Corrie scenes and attending the Pride of Britain Awards.
Alongside the photos, she wrote: “The little things that mean an awful lot.”
In September, Tina joined the popular AI trend “little me,” which creates images of your present self interacting with a younger version, often accompanied by a reflective caption.
Alongside her post, Tina wrote: “Jumping on the AI trend of big me with little me. I loved looking through photos of little O’Brien — I found this so emotional to do. Life, ey?”
Earlier this year, Tina went public with her new boyfriend following her split from husband Adam Crofts.
She appears to have found love again with 38-year-old interior designer Adam Fadlé, after ending her seven-year marriage to Adam Crofts.
The actress shares her 10-year-old son Beau with her ex-husband Adam.
Tina is also mother to 16-year-old Scarlett, who is following in her parents’ acting footsteps with a role on Waterloo Road. Scarlett’s father is Tina’s ex, Ryan Thomas, who recently returned to the cobbles as part of Sue Cleaver’s (Eileen Grimshaw) exit storyline.
