A Coronation Street legend has confirmed filming their final scenes, leaving a co-star in tears during an emotional farewell.
A Coronation Street favourite appeared emotional, holding back tears alongside a fellow cast member as they filmed their final scenes together.
Daniel Brocklebank’s exit from the ITV soap has been widely reported, with dramatic storylines lined up for 2026—over a decade after he first took on the role of Billy Mayhew.
Daniel confirmed he would be leaving earlier this year, with producers hinting that his character will face challenges “tested in ways he never imagined,” ultimately leading to his departure in a tightly-guarded storyline.
Since Coronation Street films around ten weeks ahead of transmission, Daniel’s time on the Manchester-based drama seems to be coming to an end, as he shared that he had filmed his final scenes with Harriet Bibby, who plays Summer Spellman, Billy’s ward.
Sharing a poignant photo of the pair in a heartfelt hug, tears evident in their eyes, Daniel wrote on Instagram: “My final day today working with this wonderful human. I’ve loved being her TV dad,” according to the Manchester Evening News.
He added: “What an honour it has been. An amazing woman. I will miss her so much. Thank goodness I’ll still see her in real life for dinners, walks, and cuddles.”
Harriet quickly responded to the moving tribute, writing: “What an adventure we’ve had! [heart emojis] Love you loads.”
Their former co-star Peter Ash, who played Paul Foreman, also joined in, commenting: “You two are ace!” Corrie colleague Sally Carman-Duttine, who plays Abi Webster, became emotional and replied: “Oh you guys,” adding face-holding-back-tears emojis.
Meanwhile, Georgia Taylor, who portrays Toyah Battersby, shared a string of heart emojis in the comments. Fans also voiced their sadness as they watched Daniel’s time on the cobbles come to an end.
Meanwhile, one fan wrote: “Pass me the tissues. You’ll be so incredibly missed, can’t wait to see what you do next!!” Another added: “So sad you’re leaving, Corrie won’t be the same without you.”
A third commented: “Nooooo, I didn’t know you were leaving.” Someone else said: “Sorry to see you go, I’ll miss Billy! Wishing you the best in whatever comes next.”
