After a baffling question about the Driscoll family, Corrie fans were relieved to finally get an answer.
Coronation Street viewers were quick to praise the “clever” way the soap resolved a lingering question about newcomers Ben and Maggie Driscoll.
Ben made his Weatherfield debut last month, arriving with a very familiar face. He was introduced as Eva Price’s new partner, surprising her by bringing her back to the cobbles after a seven-year absence.
Blindfolded for the journey from Hull to Weatherfield, Eva gazed at the Rovers Return as Ben revealed that she was now the pub’s landlady, years after her last time behind the bar.
They wasted no time settling in, throwing a big reopening party for the regulars. But it was the arrival of Ben’s mother, Maggie, that really caused a stir.
Amid the lively party, Maggie dropped a bombshell on Eva—she was actually the landlady, having financially helped Ben when the sale with Carla Connor fell through, according to the Manchester Evening News. Yet one detail confused Corrie fans: the difference in accents between mother and son.
David asked, “How come you and your mum have different accents? Or is it just me being too drunk in here?” Ben replied, “That, David, is a long story. But the short version is she moved from Galway to Belfast when she married my Da.”
In Monday’s (17 November) episode, Corrie viewers finally got the answer they’d been waiting for when David Platt questioned Ben at the Rovers.
