Coronation Street fans are set for a treat this Christmas with the anticipated return of a cobbles favourite.
The comeback will occur exactly one year after the character’s original exit. Longtime favourite Gail Platt is expected to make her festive return in the Christmas special. This comes twelve months after the character, played by Helen Worth, married Jesse Chadwick before starting a new life in France.
Viewers were devastated when she left following an incredible run on the soap dating back to 1974. Now, she’s set for a one-off special appearance that is sure to delight devoted fans.
Details about the return are being closely guarded by the production team, but a television source has hinted that she may be reuniting with her family during the festive season.
An insider told The Sun: “The timing couldn’t be better, as the Platts are facing another drama that they’ve had to handle on their own since the family matriarch moved abroad,” according to the Mirror.
They added: “This return is sure to excite soap fans, many of whom have wondered if we’d ever see beloved Gail back on the cobbles.”

As Christmas approaches, viewers can expect dark developments involving Todd Grimshaw in upcoming episodes. These storylines follow his controlling partner, Theo Silverton, as he continues to manipulate Todd.
