Emmerdale fans are convinced they’ve noticed a new love story developing between two popular villagers.
Emmerdale viewers are certain that Lewis Barton is heading toward a new romantic storyline after recently opening up about his mental health.
In Thursday’s episode (November 20), Lewis (Bradley Riches) was working in the café when a long line of customers began to build, leaving him feeling stressed and overwhelmed. Although he’s growing closer to Kev Townsend (Chris Coghill), Lewis still has no idea that the former prisoner is actually his father.
As the pressure mounted, Lewis became light-headed and hurried home, where he soon began experiencing a panic attack. Worried for him, Nicola King (Nicola Wheeler) quickly followed him to Dale View and found him in a distressed condition.
Later in the episode, Lewis’ housemate Vinny Dingle (Bradley Johnson) came home to find him asleep on the sofa. The friends sat down with a cup of tea, and Lewis opened up about how his autism can sometimes feel overwhelming.
“I had a moment at work, but it’s nothing major,” Lewis told Vinny, before explaining, “When everything becomes too intense, it’s happened before — it usually hits when I’m stressed.”
He went on to say, “I just can’t handle everything coming at me at once. The sounds, the colours, even my own heartbeat — it’s like the whole world turns up a notch. My brain can’t process it all, so it just shuts down.”
Vinny was taken aback, having had no idea about the challenges Lewis faced, and the two shared a meaningful look.
In a touching moment, Vinny immediately offered to take care of him, preparing dinner while Lewis rested on the sofa.
The tender scene left Emmerdale fans hoping a romance might develop between the pair.
