General Hospital spoilers reveal that Rocco Falconeri (Finn Carr) has weathered more than his fair share of emotional turmoil over the past year. His mother, Lulu Spencer (Alexa Havins Bruening), waking from a four-year coma brought him immense joy — but her sudden return, arriving right after Sam McCall’s (Kelly Monaco) death, was a lot for him to process.
On top of that, Rocco had to adjust to a new living arrangement with his father, Dante Falconeri (Dominic Zamprogna), which pulled him away from Danny Morgan (Asher Antonyzyn) and Emily “Scout” Cain (Cosette Abinante) — the siblings he’d grown so close to.
Since Lulu woke up, Rocco has been juggling his parents’ complicated emotions toward each other, the truth about how he was conceived, a dangerous brush with alcohol, and now the beginnings of a criminal record. The question is: can Rocco change course, or is it already too late?
Last Year Was Brutal
Sam’s death devastated Rocco. She wasn’t his biological mom, but she was the closest thing he had during Lulu’s long absence. For the first time in years, Rocco felt like part of a stable family — and then he lost that in an instant.
He also had to watch his father grieve Sam’s death, knowing that her sacrifice saved Lulu’s life. That’s a heavy burden for a teenager, and no one really seemed to notice when his behavior started slipping.
GH Spoilers: Dante and Lulu Aren’t Helping
This isn’t to bash their parenting, but Dante and Lulu have been so caught up in their own emotional struggles that they haven’t been fully tuned in to what Rocco is going through.
Dante’s frustration with his son’s spiraling behavior keeps exploding in all the wrong directions — including at Giovanni “Gio” Palmieri (Giovanni Mazza).
Sure, Dante didn’t know Gio was his son when he initially blamed him for not getting Rocco help after he drank too much at a college party. But once Gio was involved in Rocco’s lab incident and arrest, Dante took things way too far.
Meanwhile, Lulu is so overwhelmed by her fear of losing Rocco — particularly to Britt Westbourne’s (Kelly Thiebaud) memory — that she’s reacting emotionally instead of focusing on what he actually needs. Every lie he tells, every time he pulls away, triggers her fear rather than her nurturing instincts.
Can We Turn Back the Clock?
There’s still a chance Rocco’s current legal mess gets resolved and he comes out the other side with a clearer head. But based on how the GH writers are framing things, that doesn’t seem to be the direction they’re taking.
Both Rocco and Danny have repeatedly inserted themselves into situations they shouldn’t be in — often after teaming up and making poor decisions together.
A string of traumatic events over the past year may have set Rocco on a path that could alter his life completely. Will he straighten up and grow from this, or is he destined to follow more in his grandfather Sonny Corinthos’ (Maurice Benard) footsteps than in his father’s?
