Coronation Street is set to welcome a familiar face next week as newcomer Pete arrives on the cobbles.
In next week’s spoilers, Theo Silverton and Gary Windass meet with a man named Peter at the Bistro to discuss a potential contract.
However, manipulative Theo soon grows jealous and uneasy over boyfriend Todd Grimshaw’s secretive behaviour.
In scenes airing this week, Todd confides in Billy Mayhew that he has a hospital appointment to be tested for bowel cancer but hasn’t told Theo, not wanting to add to his boyfriend’s worries.
During the meeting with Peter, Theo spots Billy and Summer Spellman and admits he’s concerned about Todd, fearing there’s something he isn’t sharing.
The encounter leaves Billy uncomfortable, especially when he steps outside to take a call from Todd, leaving Theo fuming as he orders drinks…
Later in the week, after receiving his results, a hungover Todd returns home to confront Theo’s anger.
As Todd apologises for spending the night at Billy’s, insisting that nothing occurred, Pete suddenly comes out of the bathroom, leaving Todd stunned.
Unyielding Theo accuses Todd of sneaking around behind his back for days.
This prompts Todd to reveal the truth about his health scare, but when Theo twists the situation and tries to place the blame on him, Todd finally loses his temper and tells Theo to pack his bags.
The role of Pete is being portrayed by actor and presenter Andrew Hayden-Smith. Fans will recognise Andrew from his numerous acting and presenting roles over the years.
Andrew, 41, first gained fame playing Ben Carter on Byker Grove from 1996 to 2003. He then went on to work as a CBBC presenter between 2002 and 2006.
He also hosted UK Top 40 from 2004 to 2005 and made appearances on shows including Blue Peter, Doctor Who, and This Morning.
More recently, Andrew has been involved with PAW Patrol and appeared in Hollyoaks as DS Armstrong from 2016 to 2017.
