“Coleen Nolan reveals she has ‘learned to embrace being single’ following her breakup, allowing her to experience ‘some of the best years’ of her life on her own.”
Coleen Nolan opened up about a very personal bedroom experience that left her feeling “insecure.” She recently reflected on how the past few years have been “some of the best” since she “learned to enjoy being on my own again.”
The 60-year-old separated from her former boyfriend, Michael Jones, nearly a year ago and has since relocated to the countryside, starting a new chapter on a farm in North Staffordshire.
Before Michael, the Loose Women panellist had been married twice—first to EastEnders star Shane Richie from 1990 to 1999, and later to Ray Fensome from 2007 to 2018.
During a recent episode of the Loose Women: Just Between Us podcast, a listener asked about their partner’s desire to watch pornography in the bedroom. This led Coleen to reveal that a previous partner had wanted to watch explicit material “every time” they were intimate.
She explained: “I think if you go, ‘Oh, let’s order a takeaway and put porn on,’ that’s totally wrong, that’s cringe. But if it just happens naturally and isn’t made into a big deal, it’s surprising how quickly you both get into it.
“Some women aren’t into it, some men aren’t, and that’s fine. But at least you can say, ‘I tried it, it doesn’t do anything for me, and it makes me feel insecure,’ and then have that conversation.”
Coleen explained: “Where the compromise comes in is that it doesn’t mean every time you have sex he wants to watch porn, because that happened to me and eventually it made me feel really insecure. You start thinking, ‘Can we only be intimate if there’s porn on?’
“If you both agree to it, that’s fine. But for me, every time we were together, he would put porn on, and I felt like, ‘Am I just a vessel while he watches that?’ It felt completely over the top and not what I wanted.”
Recently, Coleen also admitted that being on her own in her sixties has “pushed me out of my comfort zone.” Writing for the Daily Record, she reflected: “Connection with others is so important for our happiness and wellbeing, especially as we get older.”
The TV personality was replying to a reader who felt a “giant hole” in their life due to a lack of romantic relationships in their sixties. Coleen offered reassurance: “You’re only 60—the same age as me—and I can tell you it’s never too late to make changes and explore new experiences.
“The past few years have been some of the best of my life. After my divorce, I learned to enjoy being on my own again, and it really pushed me out of my comfort zone.”
Just last month, Coleen shared a moment of joy, announcing the arrival of a new family member. Her daughter, Ciara Fensome, welcomed a baby boy—news that came only a year after Ciara said yes to Maxx Innes’s marriage proposal in Vietnam.
Ciara’s baby marks Coleen’s third grandchild. She already showers love on her son Shane Jr’s daughter, Amelia, born in 2016, and her younger son Jake’s son, who arrived last year.
Sharing photos of her daughter holding her newborn, an emotional Coleen wrote: “Hi everyone, I’m almost lost for words (yes, I know, not like me at all) and it’s hard to put into words the incredible mix of emotions I’m feeling right now—love, pride, relief, happiness, to name a few.
“Here he is, Sidney Ray Innes, my beautiful baby grandson, born 29/10/25. A whopping 9lb 10oz, so we’re all glad it was a planned c-section. Mum, Dad, and baby are all doing very well.”
