An Emmerdale fan-favourite lost their cash after falling victim to a fake ticket site.
Emmerdale viewers were left feeling sorry for a much-loved character after they ended up being scammed out of their money.
Spoilers ahead — Sam Dingle’s day went from bad to disastrous in Friday’s episode, now streaming on ITVX, as his attempt to treat Lydia Dingle to VIP Jason Donovan tickets completely backfired.
Throughout the week, Sam and Belle Dingle had been scrambling to raise enough cash so Sam could get Lydia the concert tickets she desperately wanted.
On Wednesday, Sam suggested stealing Christmas trees from Home Farm, telling Belle that if they sold 20 trees for £50 each, they could afford the VIP passes and fix the electrics at their cottage.
Sam, who works as Home Farm’s gamekeeper, insisted that Kim Tate and Joe Tate would never suspect him, pushing a hesitant Belle to go along with the scheme.
On Thursday, the pair carried out their plan — until Joe caught them in the act. Feeling betrayed, he immediately sacked Sam, leaving him heartbroken and even shorter on money.
Belle confronted Joe for being so harsh, saying: “He made a mistake. He’s got nothing, okay? We’re all struggling. We need the house rewired, and all he was trying to do was scrape together enough to buy Lydia those VIP Jason Donovan tickets.”
By Friday’s episode, Joe had softened. He gave Sam his job back and even offered him extra hours so he could earn enough for the special tickets.
Later on, Belle’s spirits lifted when she noticed Tracy Metcalfe selling VIP Jason Donovan tickets online — and she quickly snapped them up.
But when Sam went to collect the tickets from a bewildered Tracy, it quickly became obvious he’d been duped. Tracy explained that her account had been hacked and she knew nothing about any ticket listing.
Realising the money was gone and the tickets were a scam, Sam broke down and confessed: “That was everything I had!”
Over at Home Farm, Joe — buzzing with excitement — accidentally let slip to Lydia that Sam had managed to get VIP Jason Donovan tickets as a surprise, leaving her thrilled.
Now Sam faces the heartbreaking task of telling Lydia the truth: there are no tickets, and their money has vanished.
