Emmerdale viewers are convinced they’ve uncovered Kev’s fate after picking up on two clues that point to what’s coming next.
Fans are certain that Kev Townsend will make a return to the village — and they believe there are two major, life-changing reasons behind it.
As ITV audiences will recall, ex-con Kev (Chris Coghill) arrived in the Dales as the estranged husband of Robert Sugden (Ryan Hawley), whom he married while they were both in prison.
Not long after, Kev and Robert shared a vow renewal, only to split again just days later — and it soon emerged that Kev had fabricated his story about having a terminal heart condition.
Meanwhile, Robert was secretly working with his true love, Aaron Dingle (Danny Miller), to get Kev locked up again after his involvement in a recent armed robbery.
Kev was later taken in for questioning by police, but Nicola King (Nicola Wheeler) was desperate to keep him away from the truth — namely, that he is the long-lost father of Lewis Barton (Bradley Riches).
Nicola concealed Kev’s stolen money and goods from the police, guaranteeing they wouldn’t uncover proof of his crimes — but only on the condition that Kev left the village for good.
Just before his sudden exit on Thursday (November 27), Kev witnessed Robert and Aaron sharing an intimate moment and later confronted them, brandishing a stolen sword.
When Liam Cavanagh (Jonny McPherson) turned up, Robert moved to shield Aaron and ended up being slashed by the weapon. Aaron quickly changed tactics, pleading with Kev to release the injured Robert.
Robert made it clear where his loyalties lay, while Kev threatened that he would eventually have his revenge.
With Lewis still unaware of who Kev truly is, Kev said his goodbyes, advising Lewis never to let anyone hurt him, as he himself had “learned that the hard way.”
Kev’s future on Emmerdale remains uncertain, but fans are convinced he will make a return after noticing two telling clues.
As Nicola continues to look out for Lewis and acts as a mother figure, it seems she has developed a bond with Kev, and viewers are speculating that romance might blossom between them.
Meanwhile, with Lewis still unaware that Kev is his biological father, a reunion is expected so the truth can finally come to light.
On Reddit, one fan commented: “I’d love to see him return with his own storyline, including the father/son reveal with Lewis, Nicola and Liam becoming his friends, and maybe even a new romance.”
