I’m A Celebrity viewers rallied behind Lisa Riley after a ‘cutting’ remark from one of her campmates. The Emmerdale actress, 49, gained strong public support when fans called out her co-star’s sharp-tongued comment.
Viewers took issue with what seemed to be a sly jab from comedian Eddie Kadi, 42, after Lisa—who plays Mandy Dingle—was chosen as deputy camp leader.
Ruby Wax, 72, became camp chief, with Lisa appointed as her second-in-command. Meanwhile, Angry Ginge, 24, and Aitch, 25, who previously held leadership positions, joined forces with Jack Osbourne, 40, to push back against the new hierarchy, according to the Mirror.
Ginge voiced his frustration, saying they were “taking the mick out of me last night when I was moving out,” before declaring, “The welcome dances have got to go.”
This came after Ruby and Lisa insisted Ginge perform while Aitch supplied the rap in honour of their newly appointed roles.
Lisa brushed off Ginge’s protest, telling him, “No, the welcome dances are staying.” But Ginge pushed back, warning, “Well, I’ll refuse to wash up.” Lisa stood her ground, replying, “The welcome dances will stay—it’s the only thing I’ve requested as deputy.”
Eddie then stepped in, remarking, “Hold on, hold on, things have changed now—the regime has changed. You’re lucky to even have that position.”
His comment appeared to hit a nerve with Lisa, and viewers quickly criticised the comedian online. Lisa reacted instantly with a stunned, “What?” and stood with her hands on her hips for the rest of the exchange.
Spotting the tension, fans rushed to Twitter/X to call out Eddie’s behaviour. One viewer asked, “Did I hear that right, or did Eddie basically say Lisa shouldn’t be deputy? She looked really hurt.” Another responded, “Yes, it came across as quite nasty.”
Any clash between the pair will have to wait, though — Eddie became the second celebrity voted out of camp, following Alex Scott’s elimination.
During his exit interview with Geordie hosts Ant and Dec, Eddie admitted it felt like the right moment for him to go as he crossed the bridge and said goodbye to his campmates.
Speaking to the duo live in the studio, Eddie shared: “I’m happy and sad all at once — I’m sappy! Honestly, what an amazing experience. I’ve had such a fantastic time.
“I’ve made wonderful friends, conquered some fears, and it still feels unreal to be part of such an iconic show. Most of the time, you actually forget you’re on TV.”
