Lisa Riley’s Emmerdale co-star, Dominic Brunt, made an honest revelation on Tuesday’s episode of Loose Women.
An Emmerdale veteran has expressed concern for Lisa Riley over a detail from I’m A Celebrity.
The 49-year-old actress, best known for playing Mandy Dingle on the popular ITV soap, is currently confronting her fears in the Australian jungle.
**During her stint on the show, Lisa has endured having her head placed in a box with snakes, won immunity after defeating Martin Kemp in a live trial, and collected eight stars after confronting rats and spiders in the Mine of Misery.
She has settled into camp well and quickly become one of the most popular celebrities, forming close bonds with fellow contestants including Ruby Wax, Jack Osbourne, Aitch, and Angry Ginge.
Emmerdale star Dominic Brunt, who plays Lisa’s on-screen husband Paddy Dingle, appeared on ITV’s Loose Women on Tuesday (December 2), speaking to Christine Lampard, Myleene Klass, Nadia Sawalha, and Brenda Edwards about Lisa’s experiences in the jungle.**
**“Dominic, what do you make of how she’s getting on in there? We obviously know and love Lisa; after nearly 30 years of friendship, you really know her,” Christine began.
“She’s just being her wonderful self in there. She’s so kind and has, in many ways, become the mother of the group.”
Looking back on his early worries for his friend, Dominic said, “Yeah, it was a bit tense watching it at first. In the first week, you saw people coming in, dancing at everything, saying, ‘God, we’re like a big family,’ and you think, ‘This is just four days.’
“I thought she was really quiet, and it wasn’t the Lisa we know. I think she’s comfortable around people she knows, so it was nice to see her start coming out of her shell after four, five, six, seven days.
“And then you could relax a bit, because we were all thinking, ‘Come on, Lisa!’ But it’s fantastic — she’s making us so proud. It’s such a joy to watch her.”**
**Earlier in the series, Lisa had a touching moment with fellow campmate Jack when she asked about his father, Ozzy Osbourne, who passed away earlier this year. Both became emotional while discussing the Black Sabbath legend, with Lisa also opening up about the loss of her own mother.
Lisa’s mother, Cath, died in 2012 from breast cancer that had spread to her pelvis, ovaries, and pancreas. She was 57 years old.
Reflecting on Lisa’s grief, Dominic said, “I know she struggled when her mum, Cath, passed away. It had a big impact on her, and it will always stay with her. She’ll miss her mum for the rest of her life.
“She spent about six years grieving deeply. It was really touching that she brought her up and found a kindred spirit in Jack. That moment was really special to hear.”
When asked if he’d ever follow Lisa into the jungle, Dominic was straightforward: “No, I would never go into the jungle. I’m too quiet and I think I’d be voted out in the first week.”**
