I’m A Celeb star Lisa Riley has spoken about a steamy Emmerdale scene that almost went too far. The actress, who plays Mandy Dingle, revealed the behind-the-scenes challenges of filming intimate moments on the soap.
In an exclusive chat with Daily Star, in collaboration with Betway, Lisa explained that improvisation plays a huge role on the ITV hit. “Absolutely! Working with my on-screen husband, who is also my best friend in the world, things can go wrong because of the awkwardness of the scene, but we just carry on,” she said.
She added that knowing her lines thoroughly helps the scene flow smoothly, even when unexpected issues arise. “When you know your lines so well, you can keep going and keep the scene moving perfectly. That’s how it would happen in real life. If something falls over, you just keep going. Dom and I know our lines, especially when there’s comedy involved, and that’s brilliant.”
Even experienced actors have their limits, as Lisa found out during a particularly steamy scene with her on-screen husband, Dominic Brunt, who plays Paddy Kirk. “We had to stop the other week because of the time of night—we can only show so much skin,” she admitted.
The incident happened after a passionate sequence that pushed boundaries. Lisa explained: “After the scene, I had to run downstairs following an intense moment with Paddy, and there was just too much skin, so we had to call ‘cut’ and start again.”
Despite occasional wardrobe mishaps or awkward moments, Lisa says she enjoys the challenge of filming these scenes. “It’s fun, it’s demanding, and it definitely keeps you on your toes,” she added.
Lisa also opened up about meeting fans, saying: “Everyone is really lovely. No one, male or female, would dare say anything rude to me because, as Mandy Dingle, she’d knock your face in.”
“They all know Mandy has a brick in her handbag,” she laughed. “It’s become a running joke that Mandy carries a brick wherever she goes. People actually believe it’s real. They wouldn’t dream of being rude for fear of Mandy’s brick making an appearance.”
