Stacey Solomon, who married Joe Swash in 2022 and shares six children with him, admitted there are moments when they “can’t even look” at one another.
Stacey Solomon has revealed that there are times when she ‘can’t even look’ at her husband Joe Swash. In a recent conversation, the Sort Your Life Out host — who married the former EastEnders actor in 2022 — gave an honest insight into their marriage, explaining that two shared traits are what keep their relationship strong.
It seems the secret to Stacey and Joe’s long-lasting bond — the pair began dating in 2015 and share six children: Harry, Zachary, Leighton, Rex, Rose and Belle — lies in their shared ‘morals and values’.
Speaking to Good Housekeeping UK, Stacey said their relationship flourished because they genuinely ‘like each other’, though she admitted there are moments when they ‘can’t even look’ at one another.
Stacey added: ‘[Joe and I] got together because we like each other. We share the same morals and values, so even if we go through a couple of months of, “F*ing hell, I can’t even look at you right now,” we always come back to why we got together in the first place.’”
The couple, who star together in their self-titled fly-on-the-wall BBC series following their life at Pickle Cottage with their children and pets, first met in Australia while filming I’m a Celebrity back in 2010, according to OK!.
As a former Queen of the Jungle, Stacey encountered her future husband when he was working as a presenter on the show’s spin-off.
She spoke about this defining moment in their Stacey and Joe series.
Her comments came as she tried to comfort their daughter Rose, saying: ‘Well, I met Daddy in a faraway place called Australia. He was so funny and so silly — he made Mummy laugh so much.’
Joe jokingly described himself as ‘a bit like a stalker, watching from a distance,’ remembering: ‘The sun was shining behind her, she walked across the bridge with the wind in her hair — it felt like a movie. Then she came over, and the first thing that hit me was the smell.
“‘I’ve never smelled anything like it in my life,’ Joe said. ‘I’ve smelled plenty of people coming out of that jungle and thought, “they smell a bit pongy,” but Stacey was on a whole different level.’
Stacey went on to reveal that after leaving the show, Joe remained in Australia for work, though they spoke on the phone every day until he returned.
When he finally came home, Joe joined the family for Friday night dinner, meeting the ‘whole family’ for the first time. In another heartfelt revelation about her husband, Stacey added that he ‘hasn’t left since.
