Emmerdale fans quickly noticed Charity Dingle’s ‘blunder’ amid her storyline involving a baby secret.
Viewers will remember that recently, Charity, played by Emma Atkins, agreed to act as a surrogate for her granddaughter, Sarah Sugden. Sarah is keen to become a mother after having an emergency hysterectomy.

Following an embryo transfer, Charity found out she was pregnant, much to the shock of her husband, Mack Boyd, who had hoped they could try for their own child.
However, after a fall in the woods that caused bleeding, Charity feared the embryo transfer had failed.

In response, Sarah’s grandfather, Cain Dingle, offered to pay for another attempt. During a follow-up check-up, Charity was astonished to learn that she was indeed pregnant.

In classic soap opera style, a string of flashbacks revealed that Charity had secretly slept with her former lover, Ross Barton (Mike Parr), after a heated argument with Mack.

When Ross learned Charity was pregnant, he confronted her, asking if he was the father. Charity denied it at the time, but the paternity test later confirmed that Ross is indeed the dad, leaving Charity struggling with the situation.

In recent episodes, Charity has been confiding in Chas Dingle, who has been urging her to come clean. After considering an abortion, Charity admitted to Chas that she couldn’t go through with it, and Chas hoped this would push her to finally reveal the truth to everyone.

True to her character, Charity had her son, Ryan Stocks, alter the original paternity test results to show that Ross was not the father of her baby.

Later, Charity confessed her actions to Chas, sparking an argument between them. A puzzled Sarah overheard and asked what they were fighting about, but the pair lied straight to her face.

In several scenes, Charity and Chas have been seen arguing loudly at Charity’s home, leaving soap fans puzzled—especially since Charity’s husband, Mack, is supposed to be recovering at home after being held hostage by John Sugden.

Taking to social media, one viewer questioned: “So Mack can’t leave the house yet because of what happened. Where was he when Charity and Chas were having a full-on conversation about lying about the baby??? Surely if he was upstairs he’d hear them…”

Another account responded: “I was just thinking the same thing lol,” while one more added: “I said the same, where’s Mack?” Another viewer chimed in: “I said that as well. ??”

However, one fan was quick to suggest: “He might be out somewhere…”
