Some people just seem to have all the luck — and one of them is clearly General Hospital star Steve Burton, best known for his iconic role as Jason Morgan on the hit ABC soap.
This General Hospital Alum Is Jealous of Steve Burton’s Special Status
Rumors have been swirling that a former General Hospital star is envious of the special treatment Steve seems to receive on the show. That actor is Kelly Monaco, who played Sam McCall. It’s long been suggested that one reason Kelly was let go from the soap was because she reportedly asked for time off too often, which allegedly made her appear unreliable for filming.
Meanwhile, producers appear more than willing to accommodate Steve. When he recently requested a few months off, the show granted him time away.
Steve shared a statement with the press: “Hey everyone, I wanted to share that I’ll be taking a short break from General Hospital. I’m newly married and looking forward to spending some quality time with my family. I’m grateful for all the support and will be back this summer.”
For Kelly, it’s hard to understand why the producers were flexible with Steve when she had requested similar time off. Reports suggest she simply needed a short break, but her request was denied.
What’s Next for Kelly Monaco?
Kelly has faced a lot of challenges in recent years, including losing her home to a fire and grieving the deaths of two of General Hospital’s beloved actors — Tyler Christopher and her former partner, Billy Miller.
Although Kelly wants to move forward with her life, hearing about others receiving special treatment on the show leaves her frustrated. At this point, it seems she may never get a clear answer.
Producers have not yet commented on the rumors.
