“Coronation Street actress Catherine Tyldesley has posted a heartfelt message on Instagram about working alongside her ITV co-star.”
Coronation Street favourite Catherine Tyldesley has shared a heartfelt “lucky” message about her co-star. The 42-year-old actress recently reprised her role as Eva Price after a seven-year break from the ITV soap.
She returned to the cobbles in October last year as the new landlady of the Rovers Return, bringing the Driscoll family with her.
Actors Aaron McCusker and Pauline McLynn joined Catherine on screen as Eva’s partner Ben Driscoll and his interfering mother Maggie. The newcomers have settled seamlessly into life in Weatherfield and are now central to one of the show’s biggest current storylines.
With more than 600,000 followers on Instagram, Catherine regularly gives fans a glimpse into her life away from the cameras.
In a recent post, she shared a photo alongside her on-screen husband Aaron McCusker, describing herself as “lucky” to work with the Irish actor. Catherine also wrote a touching tribute to the Ben Driscoll star, according to the Liverpool Echo.
Catherine said their careers had “almost crossed” several times in the past and believes they were destined to work together eventually.
She wrote: “I feel so lucky to work with this gentleman every day. Our paths nearly crossed on a few occasions through castings for other projects, and I’ve admired his work for years – and now here we are, finally sharing the screen.
“The universe obviously had a plan! He’s an incredible actor – so detailed and generous in his performances – but he’s also one of the kindest and funniest people I know.
“It’s an absolute pleasure standing behind that bar with you every day @aaronmccusker6474 (especially when you turn up with Turkish delight or dark chocolate!).”
Her co-star Tony Maudsley, who plays George Shuttleworth, responded in the comments, writing: “Ahhh, this just works perfectly! A perfect match!”
Looking back on her return to the cobbles last October, Catherine previously said it felt like the “right time” to make her comeback.
She said: “I always hoped I’d return because Eva is such a joy to play.”
Opening up about getting the call to head back to Corrie, Catherine revealed: “I was in Malta filming when my agent told me that producer Kate Brooks wanted to speak to me about Coronation Street. I just assumed there’d been a funeral storyline and they needed Eva to pop back.
“But when Kate asked, ‘Would you like to be the landlady?’ I actually screamed. I was completely taken aback because it’s always been a dream of mine. I remember watching the show as a child and thinking I’d love to be landlady one day.”
