Best known as Noah Dingle in Emmerdale, Jack Downham previously starred in a big Hollywood movie with an impressive line-up of A-list actors.

Emmerdale fans know Jack Downham as Noah Dingle, a role he has portrayed since 2009. But early in his soap career, 24-year-old Jack secured a major Hollywood role alongside some of the industry’s top A-list stars.

As a youngster, Jack played Young Robin in the 2010 star-studded film Robin Hood, starring Russell Crowe, Cate Blanchett, and Oscar Isaac, with the movie directed by Ridley Scott.

Jack trained at the Scala School for Performing Arts in Horsforth, and after landing the Hollywood role, his mother, Clare, recalled how composed he remained when he secured the part of Young Robin.

If you want, I can also rewrite this into a punchier, more tabloid-style version suitable for a headline or feature.

Speaking to the Telegraph and Argus, his mother Clare said: “We were all thrilled, but Jack handled it calmly. He had two screen tests at Scala, followed by a half-term audition. He even spoke with Russell Crowe and Ridley Scott before landing the role!”

She added: “He’s completely into Robin Hood and watches it every week. Now he’s actually going to play Robin Hood! It feels a little surreal.”

Even after meeting Hollywood A-listers, Clare emphasized that Jack stayed composed, explaining: “He doesn’t get fazed by things like that, so he remained very relaxed.”

Jack himself previously shared memories of his Hollywood role on Instagram, posting a photo from the film’s premiere with the caption: “Robin Hood – 2010.”

His 25.9K followers, along with his Emmerdale co-stars, were quick to respond to the post, amazed to learn he had appeared in such a star-studded film.

Katie Hill, who plays Sarah Sugden, commented: “awww baba jack!” while Michelle Hardwick, known for her role as Vanessa Woodfield, added: “Oh my God” with heart emojis.

Other fans reacted too, with one account saying: “You look so cute!”, another asking: “Do you have a pic with Cate Blanchett???” and yet another writing: “The cutest!”

Jack isn’t the only talented performer in his family — his sister Sophie Downham also boasts an impressive acting career.

Sophie has landed notable TV roles in Unforgiven, Doctor Who, and Appropriate Adult, sharing the screen with acclaimed actors such as Emily Mortimer and Dominic West.
