General Hospital spoilers and updates hint that it’s time to pay tribute as the soap commemorates the late Anthony Geary, who portrayed the legendary Luke Spencer. Tony brought the iconic character to life from 1978 until 2017, with a few breaks along the way before his final exit from Port Charles.
All Memories Lead Back to Luke Spencer
This Friday, every memory points back to Luke. Candles are being lit in honor of both the character and Anthony Geary himself.
At the pier where Luke famously walked off into eternity during Tony’s final episode, his friends and family gather to say their goodbyes.

Luke Spencer’s Death and Tribute on General Hospital
While Anthony Geary, who played Luke Spencer, only passed away on December 14, 2024, his character had been killed on the show back in 2022. Luke met his end in a cable car accident orchestrated by Victor Cassadine (Charles Shaughnessy) while in Austria.
According to past episode recaps, Luke’s remains were later discovered, and his widow Tracy Quartermaine had him cremated and brought back to Port Charles to scatter his ashes.
A memorial service was held, which was dramatically interrupted by Jennifer Smith (Holly Gagnier’s widow, much to the anger of Laura Collins. Jennifer was later arrested several months afterward and remanded to Steinmauer following a chase led by Valentin Cassadine (James Patrick Stuart Jennifer for stealing the Ice Princess necklace, while Anna Devane (Finola Hughes actress”]) and Felicia Scorpio (Kristina Wagner promo scenes, Lulu Spencer tearfully looks at a photo of her father, whispering, “Hi, Dad,” followed by a shot of Sonny Corinthos reflecting on his first meeting with Luke. A flashback shows Luke asking, “Who are you?” and Sonny replying, “Sonny Corinthos,” arriving in Port Charles to take over the territory of Frank Smith (Joe Cortese father.
Next, a weeping Laura Collins expresses, “Thank you for the love of a lifetime,” as viewers see her and Luke dancing in the Triple L Diner during their time on the run from Frank.
Finally, a shot of Luke alone is shown with a voiceover of Anthony Geary saying, “It’s time to let go,” taken from his last episode, which aired shortly after his real-life passing.
