An Emmerdale duo could be on course for a shocking reconciliation, viewers suggest.
Fans of Emmerdale believe a much-loved couple could be set to rekindle their romance, just months after their messy split.
Viewers will remember that Dawn Taylor (Olivia Bromley) married Billy Fletcher (Jay Kontzle) in 2022. Their wedding was dramatically interrupted by serial killer Meena Jutla (Paige Sandhu), who took the couple hostage and shot Billy.
After recovering from the traumatic events of their wedding day, Dawn and Billy adopted Dawn’s son, Lucas (Noah Ryan Aspinall), and took in Clemmie Reed (Mabel Addison). They later welcomed their own son, Evan (Malachi McKenzie), in December 2023.
Tragedy struck when baby Evan was diagnosed with leukaemia. The emotional and financial pressure of his treatment drove Billy to take part in illegal bare-knuckle boxing to cover the costs, ultimately placing a strain on his marriage to Dawn.
Dawn soon began an affair with Joe Tate (Ned Porteous heartbroken Billy Fletcher moved out of Home Farm to start a new chapter.
Joe has since proposed to Dawn, and the couple are happily co-parenting Dawn’s three children. They have also recently begun considering having a child of their own.
In Friday’s (February 20) episode, Dawn received a conditional court order allowing her to divorce Billy. She told her stepmother, Kim Tate (Claire King): “The next step is to talk to Billy, which won’t be fun for either of us.”
Later, Dawn met Billy at The Woolpack to discuss their next steps. “What are we going to tell the kids?” she asked. Billy replied, “Well, they already know what’s happening, so there’s no need to keep going on about it,” before reassuring her that Evan’s cancer treatment is showing positive results.
Dawn remarked, “I think we should tell them together — it’s pretty monumental news, isn’t it?”
Although Dawn and Billy are moving closer to finalising their divorce, some Emmerdale fans think a shock twist could be coming, with the exes potentially reigniting their romance behind Joe’s back.
“Is it just me, or does anyone else want Dawn and Billy to get back together?” one fan wrote on a Facebook page. Another added: “Yesss, I’d love for her to do what she did to Billy, but to Joe instead.”
A third commented: “This would be such a twist that no one would see coming… I’m here for it,” while another said: “I always loved Dawn and Billy before she cheated. Hopefully they won’t go through with the divorce. Joe needs the karma, tbh.”
