The Lady is a four-part ITV drama based on true events, starring Mia McKenna-Bruce as former royal dresser Jane Andrews, who was convicted of murdering her boyfriend Thomas Cressman in 2001.

Twenty-eight-year-old English actress Mia Sasha McKenna-Bruce first gained fame for her role as Tee Taylor in various Tracy Beaker productions. The character debuted in 2010 and appeared in Tracy Beaker Returns, The Dumping Ground, and The Tracy Beaker Survival Files.
Her film credits include Persuasion and How to Have Sex, the latter earning her the prestigious BAFTA Rising Star Award, as well as a European Film Award nomination for Best Actress.
Born in 1997 and raised in Bromley, McKenna-Bruce trained in dance before making her debut as a ballet performer in the West End production of Billy Elliot the Musical.
Early in her career, she appeared in EastEnders as Penny Branning, the daughter of Jack Branning (Scott Maslen), making two guest appearances in 2008, according to the Mirror.

Mia McKenna-Bruce got engaged to actor Tom Leach in February 2022, and the couple tied the knot in August 2024. Their romance began in 2019 when they met on the set of the film The Rebels.
Tom has also appeared in guest roles on Silent Witness and Casualty. Speaking to British Vogue about his proposal, Mia shared:
“He made me a lovely breakfast spread with crumpets—because I love crumpets. Then he gave me a card, which actually isn’t really like him; he’s not much for romance. It said, ‘Are you ready to get married, yes or no?’ with boxes to tick. He even reminded me in his wedding speech that I never actually ticked the box that said yes. I was too busy screaming.”
The couple welcomed their first child, son Leo, in August 2023. Mia has spoken openly about how motherhood has changed her life during appearances on the Happy Mum, Happy Baby podcast. She explained:
“I love, love, love my work. But now I love it for a whole different reason, because it gives me the chance to travel with Leo and give him such amazing experiences. One day he’ll be able to look back and think, ‘Oh my God, my mum was at the BAFTAs and I was six months old.’ Surely he’ll think I’m a cool mum.”
