Emmerdale’s Lewis Barton appears to have found love on the soap – and actor Bradley Riches seems to be enjoying romance off-screen as well.
Bradley joined the long-running ITV drama last year as Lewis, the estranged brother of Ross (Michael Parr). Since his debut, Lewis has settled into village life, even taking a job at the local café.
The character has also been caught up in several major storylines, including the shocking revelation that Kev Townsend (Chris Coghill) is his biological father.
This week on the show, sparks fly between Lewis and Vinny Dingle (Bradley Johnson). In Tuesday’s episode (February 24), the pair shared a kiss before heading home for a private evening together.
Away from the spotlight, Bradley is head over heels for theatre director Scott Johnston. The pair are believed to have started dating in 2020 and, after growing closer over the years, announced their engagement in April 2024, according to the Mirror.
Bradley posted a series of snaps from the proposal on Instagram, captioning them: “08/04/2024 Erm…YES! I never thought I’d find someone who truly understands me and loves me for who I am.”
He added: “I’ve always found it hard to open up emotionally in relationships, and then @scottjohnston1.8 came into my life. With him, I felt safe, accepted, and, most importantly, loved. I love you endlessly.”
The couple got engaged against a stunning backdrop of both city and coastline. One photo showed Bradley and Scott embracing inside a heart made of rose petals.
Another image highlighted Bradley’s beautiful engagement ring, with the breathtaking scenery of Sorrento, Italy, in the background.
By May 2025, Bradley shared an update on their wedding plans, revealing a key change. Speaking to the Mirror, he said: “We’ve booked the venue – a charming English manor house for next April.”
“Fun fact – we had thought about getting married in Italy, where we got engaged last year, and had even found a beautiful venue. But we soon discovered that same-sex couples aren’t legally allowed to marry there, which I hadn’t realized. So those plans were quickly set aside.
Earlier this month, Bradley shared online that their wedding is just a few months away. Posting a video montage of their engagement on Instagram, he wrote: ‘Happy Valentine’s Day to the love of my life, Scott – just two months until we say “I do.”’
Bradley has also revealed some details about the guest list, confirming that Sharon Osbourne will be attending after they became friends on Celebrity Big Brother in 2024. Speaking to Heat magazine, he said: ‘April 2026, I’m getting married, and I couldn’t be more excited. Sharon will be there to support me – she’s not walking me down the aisle, though.'”
