“EastEnders viewers are speculating that Ben Mitchell might make a surprise comeback after noticing a key clue on Tuesday.”
EastEnders fans are hoping for another surprise return from Ben Mitchell after noticing a major clue.
In Tuesday’s episode set in Albert Square (February 24), Johnny Carter (Charlie Suff) was still frustrated with his boyfriend Callum Highway (Tony Clay), who had broken into Tim’s (Tom Ratcliffe) home to help his estranged husband Ben (Max Bowden).
During a tense confrontation at their flat, Callum made a heartfelt attempt to patch things up with Johnny and took a significant step toward commitment by finally signing the divorce papers with Ben, showing he’s ready to move on.
Johnny remained cautious about Ben’s lingering presence in their relationship but was reassured by Callum’s actions. Later, Callum, now a policeman, made it clear he wouldn’t be pressured by Tim and refused to hand over the sensitive information he wanted about a rival.

Blaming himself for bringing Tim into their lives, Johnny vowed to handle the situation personally and arranged a meeting with his business partner at The Albert, reports OK!.
However, Tim didn’t hesitate to issue a blackmail threat to Johnny: “Spend time with me, and Callum’s nightmare disappears. Or don’t, and I take the CCTV straight to the police. Your choice,” he warned.
Even as Johnny faced this blackmail crisis, some EastEnders fans were distracted by a wedding photo of Callum and Ben still hanging in the kitchen, convinced it hints at Ben’s return.
Ben is currently serving a six-year sentence in America for credit card fraud, following his arrest in March 2024 and subsequent extradition.

In October 2025, Ben returned to attend his father-in-law Jonno Highway’s (Richard Graham) funeral. He revealed that he had acted as an informant against his cellmate, which led to his transfer to a UK prison and granted him day release for the service.
However, it didn’t take long for Ben to discover Callum’s affair with Johnny, leading him to immediately end their marriage. Back in his cell, preparing for a transfer to a Manchester prison within days, Ben looked visibly heartbroken by the day’s events, gazing sadly at an old photo of himself, Callum, and Lexi. Could this signal a possible return?
On X, one fan commented: “#Ballum over? No! You can literally read the room with how EastEnders set this up. To Johnny’s left is the Ballum wedding photo, and to his right, a drawing of Callum and Ben hugging Lexi. Ben isn’t leaving Callum’s life #EastEnders.”

Another fan commented: “It’ll be very telling if the wedding photo stays up after this storyline wraps, and I have a feeling it will.”
A different viewer asked, “When is Ben coming back?”, while another wrote: “Wake me up when Ben Mitchell returns #Ballum #EastEnders.”
“Ben’s always going to be there, looming over us—well, no kidding, Callum was married to him before you even got into his head. Ben, come back, please, I’m begging #EastEnders,” added another fan.
