Coronation Street icon Debbie Webster might be in for a shocking secret child twist, according to viewers.
Coronation Street fans are convinced that Debbie Webster has a secret child who’s already living on the cobbles.
Debbie (played by Sue Devaney) first appeared in the iconic ITV soap back in 1984 as the sister of Corrie legend Kevin (Michael Le Vell). She left the show a year later but made a comeback in 2019.
Since her return, Debbie has become a firm favourite among viewers. However, things have been far from calm for the beloved Weatherfield resident in recent months.
Earlier this year, Kevin’s life was thrown into chaos when he was diagnosed with testicular cancer. To make matters more complicated, Kevin and Debbie’s estranged brother Carl (Jonathan Howard) resurfaced after years of living in Germany.
However, in a devastating twist, Debbie was diagnosed with vascular dementia — a condition with no known cure. Still, she remains determined to make the most of her life, surrounded by the love and support of her family.
Last week, though, Debbie was left stunned after uncovering the shocking affair between Carl and Kevin’s wife, Abi (Sally Carman). Though furious, Debbie vowed to keep the secret from Kevin, on the condition that Carl and Abi end their relationship — a promise they ultimately broke.
However, this week, Kevin discovered the truth about Abi and his brother’s affair after Abi made a major slip-up during a family birthday celebration.
With everything out in the open, Debbie once again demanded that Carl and Abi put an end to their relationship, insisting that Abi “isn’t good enough” for Carl. Later, she comforted a devastated Kevin — though she kept quiet about the fact that she had known about the affair all along.
But now, in what could be a shocking twist, fans believe Debbie might have a secret child — and that it could actually be Carl. On a Corrie Facebook fan page, one viewer speculated: “Who thinks Carl is really Debbie’s secret son? That’s why she thinks Abi isn’t good enough for him!”
Another fan agreed, saying: “Oh my goodness! I think you’re onto something!” A third added: “That’s exactly what I was thinking.” And a fourth wrote: “Imagine if the truth comes out because of her dementia — all those juicy secrets revealed!”
Someone else even drew a comparison to rival soap EastEnders, commenting: “Remember Kat Slater in EastEnders? Her parents raised her daughter Zoe as their own — so maybe Kevin’s dad and stepmum did the same with Carl. Anything’s possible in soapland!”
