“Before rising to fame as Queen Vic landlord Mick Carter, EastEnders star Danny Dyer once appeared on BBC’s Casualty.”
Danny Dyer has won over soap fans with his portrayal of Mick Carter on EastEnders, though he first delved into intense storylines during an earlier role on Casualty.
The 48-year-old made his Walford debut on Christmas Day 2013 as Mick Carter, the landlord of The Queen Vic, alongside his wife Linda (Kellie Bright) and their three children.
Mick remained at the heart of Albert Square’s drama until his mysterious exit at Christmas 2022, when he was swept out to sea and presumed dead.
Two years prior to his breakthrough on EastEnders, Danny appeared on Casualty as Rossy, a shadowy, maverick paramedic haunted by painful memories from a train disaster.

The BBC drama shared a throwback clip on Instagram featuring Danny Dyer from an episode that aired in February 2012, according to OK!.
In the gripping scene, Rossy bursts through the emergency department doors carrying a woman named Ali, who appears to have a spinal injury. However, the paramedic is unable to provide clear information about her identity or how long she has been in this condition.
Zoe Hanna, played by Sunetra Sarker, calls Rossy’s behavior the “worst handover ever,” while Rossy insists he “doesn’t give out drugs,” leaving the medical team perplexed.
Later in the episode, Rossy opens up about the trauma he experienced after a catastrophic train disaster, sharing the emotions and fear he felt during the incident.

Seated in the back of an ambulance, he recalled, “I was in the front carriage when the train crashed. There was just a noise, and then it went black. I’ve never been so scared, and when I came to, my leg was broken and I couldn’t move.”
Unfortunately, Rossy only appeared in Casualty for a single episode before Danny made his EastEnders debut months later.
In footage from his Casualty role, Danny spoke about what drew him to the character.
Looking directly at the camera, he said: “What really attracted me was the chance to dress up like this. Most of my work is in films; I don’t usually do TV.
“Casualty is such a huge show, so I felt honoured they asked me. It’s been running for a long time and is a very well-oiled machine.”
Since leaving his role as Mick Carter in 2023, Danny Dyer has continued to make an impact in the acting world, starring in Nick Love’s film Marching Powder.
The East London-born actor has also featured in the series Heat, Henpocalypse, Mr Big Stuff, and Tinsel Town, and currently plays Freddie Jones in the Disney+ drama Rivals, alongside David Tennant and Aidan Turner.
Danny is also appearing on a reality show with his daughter, and former Love Island contestant, Dani.
On Tuesday (February 24), The Dyers’ Caravan Park debuted on Sky One, following the pair as they traded the glitz and glamour for rubber gloves, aiming to transform a struggling holiday park in Leysdown on the Kent Coast into a thriving business.
