Emmerdale star Lewis Cope may be dazzling audiences on Strictly Come Dancing 2025, but the actor could be gearing up for a surprising return to the soap.
Lewis Cope could be making a return to Emmerdale after taking part in this year’s series of Strictly Come Dancing.
The actor first rose to fame in 2022 when he joined the ITV soap as Nicky Miligan, the estranged son of Caleb (William Ash) and Ruby (Beth Cordingly).
Nicky quickly became embroiled in a string of dramatic storylines — from keeping his sexuality secret from his father to being caught up in a terrifying car crash — his time in the Dales was anything but quiet.
In 2024, Nicky departed the village alongside his boyfriend Suni Sharma (Brahmdeo Shannon Raman). After his exit from the soap, it didn’t take long for Lewis to secure a spot on another major TV show.
Earlier this year, Lewis joined the Strictly Come Dancing 2025 lineup at the very last minute — a surprise opportunity that came together in just 24 hours.
On the sparkling BBC One series, Lewis has been paired with professional dancer Katya Jones, and the duo have quickly become fan favourites, wowing audiences with their impressive performances.
However, Emmerdale viewers believe Lewis might soon return to the soap to reprise his role as Nicky Miligan, speculating that his comeback could coincide with the discovery of his grandfather Anthony Fox’s (Nicholas Day) dead body.
As fans will remember, Anthony was killed in January by his daughter Ruby, who had been sexually abused by him as a teenager and became pregnant. Secretly, John Sugden (Oliver Farnworth) assisted in removing the body and cleaning the crime scene of any evidence.
Fast forward to last month: after helping John escape the country, Ruby revealed the location of Anthony’s body to Caleb, who later exhumed the remains to confirm for himself.
But in the world of soaps, nothing stays buried for long, and fans believe the discovery of Anthony’s body could pave the way for Lewis’s return. On an Emmerdale Facebook fan page, one user commented: “I hope Lewis Cope comes back to Emmerdale once he’s finished with Strictly.”
Another added: “Same here.” A third suggested: “Maybe he’ll return when Anthony’s body is found?” Echoing the sentiment, a fourth wrote: “That makes sense, especially if Ruby or Caleb get caught.”
