Emmerdale has announced three standalone episodes, during which Bear Wolf’s fate will be revealed.
The ITV soap will air these special installments this autumn, focusing on three major storylines.

The first centers on April Windsor (Amelia Flanagan), who has reluctantly been involved in dealing drugs for villain Ray Walters (Joe Absolom) and his mother Celia Daniels (Jaye Griffiths). It was recently uncovered that the local farmer was the brains behind the drug operation. Celia even threatened April’s life after she contemplated going to the authorities with the truth.

As April’s ever-concerned father, Marlon (Mark Charnock), struggles to reach her, a special episode will examine their “fragile and possibly broken” relationship as she drifts further from his influence.

The soap will also offer a “reflective” look at Robert Sugden’s (Ryan Hawley) recent time behind bars.

ITV viewers will recall that Robert received a 14-year prison sentence for the murder of Lee Posner (Kris Mochrie), who had sexually assaulted his sister, Victoria (Isabel Hodgins).

Although Robert was released after just six years in May, he caused chaos by crashing his ex-husband Aaron Dingle’s (Danny Miller) wedding to his villainous brother, John (Oliver Farnworth). The character was soon back in custody for breaching his bail conditions, and later returned to prison temporarily after John framed him for his own crimes last month.

The special episode will delve into Robert’s time in prison for Lee’s death, examining whether incarceration changed him for good. The storyline is also expected to feature his secret prison husband, Kev Townsend (Chris Coghill), who was introduced to viewers last month.

Finally, Emmerdale will reveal the fate of Bear Wolf (Joshua Richards) after several months off-screen.

Back in July, Bear decided to leave for a new life in Ireland after his son, Paddy Kirk (Dominic Brunt), struggled to cope with living under the same roof as him.

Paddy believes his estranged father is safe with friends in Ireland. However, it soon becomes clear that Bear never made it across the Irish Sea. So where has he gone?

“A special standalone episode will examine the hundred missing days of Bear’s life and uncover that he is tragically caught in a situation all too familiar for a forgotten generation,” a statement reads.

The episodes are expected to have a profound impact on the rest of the village as long-hidden truths finally come to light.
