Coronation Street’s Richard Fleeshman, who portrayed Craig Harris, looks completely different nearly 20 years after leaving the ITV soap.
Coronation Street fans have noticed the actor who once played Craig Harris taking on a new steamy role — and he looks completely different from his days on the cobbles.
Craig, portrayed by Richard Fleeshman, first appeared on the soap in 2002 alongside his on-screen family — dad Tommy Harris (Thomas Craig), mum Angela Harris (Kathryn Hunt), and sister Katy (Lucy-Jo Hudson).
The family arrived in Weatherfield under a witness protection programme and quickly found themselves caught up in plenty of drama. During his time on the show, teenager Craig became central to several major storylines.
In 2005, tragedy struck when Katy killed their father Tommy in a moment of rage, prompting their mother Angela to take the blame. Overcome with guilt, Katy later took her own life, leaving Craig devastated and alone.
The character also developed a relationship with Rosie Webster (Helen Flanagan), becoming her first boyfriend. Craig even made plans to run away to Berlin with her.
However, in 2006, he ultimately left Weatherfield alone, bidding farewell to the cobbles. Since his departure, actor Richard Fleeshman has stayed busy, appearing in shows such as Call the Midwife and Death in Paradise.
However, it’s Richard’s latest role in the BBC series Riot Women that has everyone talking. He stars as Jojo in the new comedy-drama, which centres on five women who unexpectedly come together to start a punk rock band.
Written by renowned screenwriter Sally Wainwright, best known for Happy Valley and Gentleman Jack, the six-part series premiered earlier this week.
It’s safe to say that Richard’s role in Riot Women is a far cry from the character that made him famous on Coronation Street years ago. In episode three, Richard appears completely nude in a scene where his character prepares to sleep with one of the main characters, Holly (Tamsin Greig).
Fans were stunned by his daring new role and took to a Coronation Street Facebook fan page to share their reactions. Alongside photos of him from his soap days, one person wrote: “Wow, little Craig Harris has really grown up, hasn’t he?”
Another added: “Let’s just say he made quite a bold move with one of the Riot Women! (If you’re wondering, check out Episode 3 on BBC iPlayer).” Someone else simply commented: “Bloody hell.”
