Isabel Hodgins is marking a major milestone as she celebrates 20 years on Emmerdale. The actress is best known for her long-running role as Victoria Sugden in the iconic soap. Isabel first took on the part in 2006 when the character was recast.
Her talent was quickly recognised, earning her a nomination for Best Newcomer at the TV Choice and TV Quick Awards in 2007, followed by a Best Young Actress nod at the Inside Soap Awards in 2008. On the show, Isabel portrays Victoria, the daughter of Jack and Sarah Sugden and the adoptive sister of Andy Sugden.
Taking to Instagram this morning, Isabel shared a throwback photo from her first scenes in October 2006, writing: “Can’t believe I’ve entered my 20th year on Emmerdale. So many memories, incredible people, and amazing storylines over the years.”
The Sugden-Dingle clan has faced plenty of turmoil in recent months, particularly with the arrival of John Sugden (Oliver Farnsworth), who has been stirring up drama. At the heart of it all is Victoria Sugden (Isabel Hodgins), who has been left completely blindsided by John’s actions.
In recent episodes, the truth about John’s crimes has finally come to light, leaving the villagers — and Victoria — reeling, including the shocking revelation of Nate Robinson’s accidental death. Victoria is set to leave Emmerdale soon as Isabel takes maternity leave, with the actress teasing that viewers are “in for a ride” as the storyline unfolds.
Speaking to Metro at the Cure Usher Ball, Isabel confessed she’s unsure exactly how Victoria’s exit will play out, saying: “It’s still a surprise. They’re still working on something, and we’ll see how it goes.”
Isabel announced her pregnancy back in August, sharing the exciting news with fans by posting a photo of herself holding a baby scan alongside her partner Adam Whitehead. She captioned the post: “First comes love, then comes marriage, then comes… Baby Whitehead.”
Back in April, Isabel delighted fans by sharing joyful news about her personal life — she tied the knot with her partner, Adam Whitehead. The actress revealed the happy update through a social media post featuring two black-and-white Polaroid photos.
One picture showed Isabel and Adam’s hands stacked together, proudly displaying their new wedding rings, while the other captured a sweet moment of the couple sharing a kiss on their wedding night.
Following the announcement, friends and Emmerdale co-stars flooded the comments with congratulations. Daisy Campbell, who plays Amelia Spencer, wrote, “So happy for you, Iz,” while Chris Bisson, known for his role as Jai Sharma, added, “Congratulations.”
