Emmerdale viewers have been left “fuming” after a notorious villain made a shocking return from the dead — just as April Windsor appeared to make her exit.

Emmerdale viewers were left divided on Wednesday after the soap brought back a notorious villain — though not everyone was pleased to see their return.

“Emmerdale has shocked viewers with the unexpected return of Callum, who was thought to be dead after last week’s brutal attack.”

As viewers of the ITV soap will be aware, teenager April Windsor (Amelia Flanagan) was forced into sex work by Ray Walters (Joe Absolom) and his controlling mother, Celia Daniels (Angela Griffiths). When April met up with the unsettling client Callum, she attempted to escape by striking him on the head with a vodka bottle, rendering him unconscious. She now believes Callum is dead, while Ray continues to manipulate her.

In Wednesday’s Emmerdale episode (November 5), Ray exploited her guilt and feigned concern, telling April that he “needs someone up in Newcastle” and suggesting it would be good for her to leave the village and “clear her head.”

The villain further convinced April that she would only be handling drugs and persuaded her that moving away was in her best interest.

April began saying her goodbyes to her family, pretending she was taking a much-needed trip to visit friends in Newcastle and possibly exploring the local university.

In a poignant moment, she shared an emotional farewell with her brother Leo Goskirk (Harvey Rogerson) and admitted that she had done “something bad.”

Meanwhile, Ray was seen in his car with Callum—who is very much alive—refusing to get him any medical attention for his head injury. In a chilling confrontation, Ray told Callum, “April won’t be causing any more trouble,” revealing that he had always known what would happen to him.

As April gets ready to leave the village, Emmerdale viewers were left unimpressed by Callum’s supposed fate, having predicted all along that he was still alive.

On Reddit, one fan commented: “Of course he (Callum?) isn’t dead. At least April won’t go to prison for murder when the truth comes out, but when will this manipulation stop!?”

Another wrote: “Not like anyone didn’t see that coming,” while a third added: “It was a fairly predictable twist.”

“It was so obvious he’d still be alive,” added another fan.

On X, one viewer wrote: “Non-surprise of the year. Callum isn’t actually dead. Yawn! #emmerdale.”

“I never bought that April killed Callum, and now there’s the creep in Ray’s car with that ridiculous bandage on his head. #Emmerdale,” another commented.
