ITV Coronation Street icon 'set for comeback' a decade after first appearing to confront Becky Swain

Coronation Street may see the return of a cobbles favourite to challenge the scheming Becky Swain.

Coronation Street fans are convinced they know who will bring down Becky Swain — and it’s a returning cobbles legend.

Becky (Amy Cudden) first appeared in September as the supposedly deceased wife of Lisa Swain (Vicky Myers). The police officer was reported killed in 2021 after being run down by a getaway car while pursuing a criminal.

After her ‘death’, Lisa and her daughter Betsy (Sydney Martin) tried to move on while still mourning Becky. This year, Lisa got engaged to Carla Connor (Alison King), and everything seemed perfect for the happy couple.

But it was soon revealed that Becky is actually alive. She reappeared to a stunned Lisa and revealed that she ‘had to die’ to enter witness protection after an undercover mission went wrong.

Since her return, crafty Becky has been determined to reunite with her family, showing no concern for anyone in her path, including Carla. Tensions rose last week when, in a bid to drive a wedge between Lisa and Carla, Becky kissed Lisa at the Rover’s Halloween party.

In Friday’s episode (November 7), Becky was told by corrupt officer DI Costello (Daon Broni) that she must return to Spain immediately. However, Becky remained resolute, insisting she wouldn’t leave without Lisa and Betsy.

Now, with Becky set on stirring up trouble for Carla and Lisa, fans are speculating that a former cobbles resident might return to stop her. On a Coronation Street Facebook fan page, one user proposed Carla’s half-sister, Kate Connor (Faye Brooks).

They wrote: “They should bring back Kate Connor — I’m sure she’d help Carla take down Becky!” Another fan added: “Oooo yes, I loved her.” A third commented: “Maybe she could appear for Carla’s wedding too.”

Fans will remember that Kate first appeared on the show in 2015. She was last seen in 2019, leaving Weatherfield after the death of Rana Habeeb (Bhavna Limbachia).

Actress Faye Brooks has previously hinted at a possible return to the soap. In 2021, she told The Sun: “Well, I’m not dead. I didn’t die! My on-screen partner Rana passed away. I went travelling, and honestly, I’m not sure where I am!”

Faye added: “As we all say, it really is the best experience you’ll ever have, and hopefully I’ll get the chance to come back one day.”
