Bethany has made her return to Coronation Street, and fans think a new romance may already be on the horizon.
Coronation Street fans are speculating that Bethany Platt could be heading into a surprising new romance following her recent return to the cobbles.
Bethany, played by Lucy Fallon, was last seen back in February when she left Weatherfield after splitting from Daniel Osbourne (Rob Mallard). Their relationship came to an end after Bethany discovered Daniel had cheated on her with Daisy Midgeley (Charlotte Jordan).
Viewers will remember Bethany and Daniel’s turbulent, on-and-off romance over the years, which even saw the pair planning to marry. However, their future together collapsed when Daniel rekindled things with his ex, Daisy.
Devastated, Bethany chose to take up a job at a London magazine and moved away. Off-screen, the departure coincided with Lucy Fallon taking maternity leave.
Lucy welcomed her daughter, Nancy Margaret, in January 2025 with her footballer partner Ryan Ledson. The couple are also parents to son Sonny Jude, who was born in 2023.
Just months after giving birth to her second child, it was confirmed that Lucy would be returning to the ITV soap as Bethany. In Friday’s episode (October 3), her comeback saw her character in hot water after being questioned by police over an alleged car theft.
During the scene with officer Kit Green (Jacob Roberts) — who happens to be her mum Sarah’s (Tina O’Brien) new boyfriend — Bethany explained that she had quit her London job and taken her boss’s car without permission.
Kit was able to pull some strings to keep Bethany out of trouble — much to her relief. Later, she reunited with her mum Sarah, who was thrilled to discover Bethany had returned to Weatherfield for good.
With Bethany jobless and short on money, Sarah offered her a place to stay. But as ever on the cobbles, drama is never far away — and fans are now speculating that a surprising romance could soon develop between Bethany and Kit.
On a Coronation Street Facebook fan page, one viewer wrote: “Kit and Bethany are definitely going to end up together.” Another asked: “How long before Bethany and Kit sleep together?”
A third fan agreed, commenting: “I thought the same.” Echoing the speculation, someone else added: “Typical Kit — he’ll probably end up with Bethany while still seeing her mum!”
Meanwhile, last month Lucy spoke about her soap comeback, admitting she was “really excited” to be back. She told Digital Spy: “It feels great to return and be with everyone again — especially not having to hide a baby bump anymore! It’s nice to feel free, and I can’t wait for viewers to see what’s coming.”
