Soap fans are in for a treat this January with a special crossover episode, Corriedale.
ITV announced earlier this year that a landmark soap crossover is on the way, bringing together the worlds of Coronation Street and Emmerdale for the very first time in a special one-hour episode titled Corriedale.
The episode is scheduled to air in early January 2026 as a tribute to the soap genre, and it will also mark the launch of ITV’s brand-new ‘soap power hour’ format for both Coronation Street and Emmerdale.
ITV has now unveiled an intense teaser trailer, offering fans a gripping first look at the Corriedale special. The promo confirms that a major multi-car crash will be the dramatic event that brings the Street and the Dales together for one unforgettable night. Claire King
Claire King is most famous for her role as Kim Tate on Emmerdale, a character she has portrayed since 1989. Considered one of the soap’s most legendary figures, Kim is widely viewed as the true queen of Home Farm.
During Claire’s break from Emmerdale between 1999 and 2018, the 63-year-old actress made the move to Coronation Street, where she played Erica Holroyd from 2014 to 2017. Erica was close friends with Liz McDonald and had a relationship with Dev Alahan. She also found herself romantically linked to Nick Tilsley and even tried to embark on an affair with Kevin Webster before ultimately heading off to Spain.
Sally Ann Matthews
Sally Ann Matthews is widely recognised for her long-running role as Jenny Connor, a character she has portrayed on the cobbles since 1986. Earlier this year, viewers were heartbroken when Jenny departed Weatherfield to start afresh in Tenerife.
During her time away from Coronation Street between 1993 and 2015, the now 55-year-old actress appeared in Emmerdale as Sandra Briggs from 2005 to 2006. Sandra was married to local farmer Craig Briggs, and the couple soon found themselves locked in a bitter dispute with Tom King and his family.
Daniel Brocklebank
Daniel Brocklebank is widely known for his role as the much-loved vicar Billy Mayhew, a character he has portrayed on the cobbles since 2014. Sadly, the actor is due to depart the show in upcoming episodes.
Before joining Coronation Street, the 45-year-old appeared in Emmerdale as Ivan Jones from 2005 to 2006. Ivan first showed up in the village working as a binman for “King & Sons” after splitting from his wife. He soon became embroiled in various romances and complications, including relationships with Toni Daggert and Paul Lambert. Eventually, Ivan decided to head off for a fresh start in Costa Rica.
Chris Bisson
Chris Bisson is most recognised for his long-running role as Jai Sharma on Emmerdale, a character he has portrayed since 2009.
Before settling into village life, the now-50-year-old starred on Coronation Street as Vikram Desai between 1999 and 2002. Vikram co-founded Street Cars with Steve McDonald, but after becoming entangled in drug smuggling to pay off his gambling debts, his partnership with Steve collapsed. He ultimately left Weatherfield behind for a new life in Mumbai.
Rebecca Sarker
Rebecca Sarker is widely recognised for her role as Manpreet Sharma, who she has portrayed on Emmerdale since 2018.
Before joining the Dales, the 50-year-old appeared on Coronation Street between 1999 and 2000 as Nita Desai — daughter of temporary Corner Shop owner Ravi Desai and elder sister to Vikram. Nita eventually departed Weatherfield in 2000 to take over a shop in Inverness.
Paula Lane
Paula Lane is best known for her role as Kylie Platt on Coronation Street, which she played from 2010 until her heartbreaking on-screen death in 2016.
In 2024, the 39-year-old actress joined Emmerdale as Ella Forster, a receptionist at Brook Cottage Surgery who was later exposed as having killed her childhood best friend, Joanne Phillips. After being framed by killer John Sugden — who manipulated the villagers into turning on her — Ella was driven out of the village.
Oliver Farnworth
Oliver Farnworth is widely recognised for his portrayal of Andy Carver on Coronation Street, a role he held from 2014 to 2017.
In 2024, the 43-year-old actor arrived in Emmerdale as the enigmatic John Sugden, who was soon revealed to be a dangerous killer with a twisted saviour complex, preying on multiple villagers. John is now on the run, and whether he’ll make his way back remains uncertain.
