Coronation Street brings in Emmerdale star for upcoming George Shuttleworth plot

Coronation Street spoilers have unveiled a fresh storyline centred on George Shuttleworth and his business.

Coronation Street viewers may recognise a new arrival on the cobbles next week, as an Emmerdale star joins the ITV soap.

Recently, a woman named Annie turned up at George Shuttleworth’s funeral parlour — and she was clearly unhappy.

Speaking to George, who had recently organised her mother’s funeral, as well as Todd Grimshaw and Christina Boyd, Annie accused him of manipulating her mum and taking advantage of her in order to secure a place in her will.

Annie claimed that her late mother had changed her will to leave George an eye-watering £10,000. A shocked George denied any wrongdoing, insisting he had nothing to do with it, but Annie remained unconvinced and warned she would pursue legal action against both him and his beloved business.

In next week’s spoilers, at the undertakers, Christina makes an offhand joke about George wriggling his way into clients’ wills — only to be horrified when she realises that Mrs Ripley, a prospective client, has overheard the remark.

Meanwhile, Adam Barlow informs George that Annie has enlisted his services to challenge her mother’s will, advising him to appoint his own solicitor without delay. Later, when Christina meets with Mrs Ripley, she attempts to smooth things over — but will she manage to fix the situation?

As the week progresses, George tells Christina at the undertakers that he is considering refusing the £10,000 left to him in Annie’s mother’s will, deciding it isn’t worth the trouble. However, when Christina points out that rejecting the money could appear to be an admission of guilt, George realises she may be right.

Not long after, Adam cautions Christina that Annie believes she is George’s accomplice and is planning to take legal action against both of them.

Towards the end of the week, matters escalate further when a man arrives at the funeral parlour and introduces himself as Damien — Mrs Ripley’s son.

Damien expresses his gratitude to George for agreeing to handle his mother’s funeral arrangements. However, as George and Christina escort him out, Annie arrives and warns Damien that the Shuttleworths cannot be trusted. Taking her words on board, Damien thanks her for the advice and declares that he will be taking his business elsewhere.

The role of newcomer Damien is played by actor Matthew Flynn. Soap viewers may recognise him from his time on Emmerdale, where he portrayed D.S. Rogers between 2021 and 2022 during the Meena Jutla storyline.

Matthew has also appeared as Tony Cooper in the 2014 film Pride, Detective Davis in Finding Alice, and Jim Gossett in COBRA, among other roles.
