Coronation Street’s Lauren Bolton is a beloved character on the ITV soap, but her stint on the cobbles may be drawing to a close.
A new fan theory suggests that Coronation Street’s Lauren Bolton could be written out in a dramatic way.
Lauren (Cait Fitton) first appeared on the ITV soap in 2022. As a strong-willed and loyal teenager, she has been at the centre of several major storylines during her time on the cobbles.
From dealing with her racist, far-right extremist father Reece Bolton (Scott Anson) to confronting her abuser and taking down the villainous Joel Deering (Calum Lill), Lauren’s life in Weatherfield has been packed with drama.
Recently, she has been growing close to newcomer Ollie Driscoll (Raphael Akuwudike), who arrived in Weatherfield last year with his family to take over the Rovers Return.
This group includes his father Ben Driscoll (Aaron McCusker), Eva Price (Catherine Tyldesley), brother Will (Lucas Hodgson-Wale), grandmother Maggie (Pauline McLynn), and Eva’s daughter Suzy (Aurora Bradshaw).
While working as a chef at the Rovers, Ollie has been spending time with barmaid Lauren, and it’s clear there’s chemistry between them after some playful flirting across the bar.
However, one person unimpressed by their budding romance is Ollie’s grandmother, Maggie, who has made it clear she believes Lauren isn’t suitable for her grandson.
From the moment she arrived on the cobbles, Maggie’s protective nature over her family has been evident. A flashback episode revealed that she accidentally killed her ex-husband and also assisted her grandson Will in covering up his assault on Daniel Osbourne (Rob Mallard).
This week, Ollie invited Lauren on a date, prompting Maggie to react with disapproval, telling Lauren that she and Ollie came from “very different sides of the tracks.” Later, Maggie’s comments seemed to affect Lauren, as she ended up canceling the date.
Now, fans are worried that the overprotective Maggie—who accidentally killed her ex-husband—might go as far as harming Lauren. On a Coronation Street Facebook fan page, one viewer warned: “Lauren needs to be careful.”
Another added: “I have a bad feeling Maggie is going to do something.” Predicting a potential murder twist, a third fan commented: “I can see her killing or at least trying to kill Lauren.” A fourth agreed: “Same here.”
