Coronation Street actor Gareth Pierce, who plays Todd Grimshaw, recently marked a milestone birthday.
Coronation Street viewers have been left stunned after discovering Todd Grimshaw star Gareth Pierce’s real age.
Gareth stepped into the role of Todd back in 2020 and has remained a firm favourite on the cobbles ever since. In the current powerful ITV scenes, Todd has found himself at the centre of a distressing domestic abuse storyline involving his partner, Theo Silverton.
Theo, portrayed by James Cartwright, has been manipulating, isolating and mistreating Todd, leaving audiences emotional and heartbroken as the storyline unfolds.
Away from the ITV soap, Gareth enjoys a happy family life. He married his wife, Amy Lee Pierce, in 2014, and the couple live in Manchester with their daughter.
On Thursday 19 February, Gareth marked a milestone birthday as he turned 45. Sharing the moment on Instagram, the actor wrote: “Thanks for the birthday wishes! Great day so far with my girls.”
Taking to social media, soap fans were quick to express their surprise at Gareth turning 45, with many commenting on his youthful appearance and admitting they had assumed he was still in his 30s.
One person wrote: “HAPPY 45TH BIRTHDAY WISHES TO GARETH HAVE A FANTASTIC DAY,” while another replied in disbelief: “45? 45? I’m flabbergasted! I thought he was in his thirties!”
Another fan commented: “Happy birthday, surely he’s not 45 — he only looks about 28 to 30, young baby face xx enjoy your birthday xxx.” A different admirer added: “Happy Birthday Gareth, so very young looking for your age.”
Elsewhere, someone else shared: “He looks so much younger. Many happy returns,” while another wrote: “Happy birthday Todd, have a great day — you don’t look 45, you look so much younger.”
Welsh actor Gareth Pierce has portrayed Todd since 2020, stepping into the role after Bruno Langley, who had played the character since 2001 on Coronation Street.
Away from the cobbles, Gareth has appeared in a wide range of television productions over the years. His credits include Caerdydd (2006–2010), Stella — created by Ruth Jones — where he played Lenny Mack from 2013 to 2014, as well as roles in Ordinary Lies (2016), Mr Selfridge (2016), and The Archers between 2019 and 2024.
Gareth also provided narration for all 11 episodes of Doctor Who: The Doctors Revisited.
