Jodie Ramsay appears to have it in for Bernie Winter on Coronation Street, and viewers believe they’ve figured out the explosive reason behind it.
Coronation Street viewers think they’ve uncovered the hidden connection between Jodie Ramsay and Bernie Winter – and it doesn’t spell good news for Bernie.
Jodie (Olivia Frances Brown) first appeared during the action-packed Corriedale crossover episode in January. At the time, no one knew who she was, and she was shown fleeing after being kept captive in the back of a van by Emmerdale’s Graham Foster (Andrew Scarborough).
After arriving in Weatherfield, Jodie soon dropped a bombshell, revealing she was the long-lost half-sister of Shona Platt (Julia Goulding) – a revelation that left both Shona and her husband David (Jack P Shepherd) stunned.
Since then, Jodie has begun settling into life on the cobbles, moving in with Shona and David and landing herself a job at the local café. But it’s clear there’s much more to Jodie than meets the eye, as she appears to be keeping plenty of secrets.
The newcomer has been playing mind games with the Platts and setting her sights firmly on Shona, apparently seeking payback after being abandoned as a child. In recent scenes, Jodie was shown going through a hidden box filled with keepsakes from her past, including a puzzling locket.
Then, in Tuesday’s episode (February 24), she took things a step further when she pulled out a cut-out photo of Bernie Winter’s (Jane Hazlegrove) face from the box — confirming it was Jodie who broke into Bernie’s house earlier in the week and deliberately damaged her wedding photograph.
Viewers will remember how shaken Bernie was when she discovered someone had broken into her home and sliced her face out of her wedding photo. She instantly assumed it was her stalker, Mal (Tim Treloar), who had been tormenting her for weeks.
However, it has now been revealed that Jodie was the real culprit — a twist that has left fans confused, given that Jodie and Bernie appear to be nothing more than colleagues at the café. Despite this, many viewers are convinced a dramatic secret child storyline could be about to unfold.
“So many questions — why does Jodie have a photo of Bernie? What is she up to?” one viewer wondered on a Coronation Street Facebook fan page. Another suggested: “I think she’s her real mum.” A third agreed, replying: “That’s exactly what I was thinking!”
Speaking about Jodie’s arrival on the show, producer Kate Brooks recently explained that the team felt it was the right moment to “delve into and explore more of Shona’s backstory, and that’s where Jodie fits in.”
She added: “Jodie is a complex character who arrives with plenty of emotional baggage. Her relationship with Shona is strained — there’s a lot of shared history and some deep-rooted resentment between them. But despite everything, there is still love there as well.”
