Coronation Street fans have shown their support for real-life couple Sally Carman and Joe Duttine after the pair shared a heartwarming family update.
Sally – known for her role as Abi Webster – and Joe – who plays Tim Metcalfe – fell in love on the ITV soap in 2018. A year later, they revealed they had moved in together.
By March 2020, the couple took the next big step in their relationship when Joe proposed during a lockdown walk.
After several postponements due to Covid, the pair finally tied the knot in July 2022, officially becoming husband and wife.
Sally and Joe tied the knot in a beautiful ceremony at St Philip’s Church in Salford, where Sally also lovingly embraced her role as stepmum to Joe’s three children.
Since their wedding, the couple has frequently shared glimpses of their life away from Coronation Street — from romantic getaways to cozy moments at their home in a village near Stockport.
Last week, Joe melted hearts on Instagram when he shared an adorable photo of their furry family member, Fig. In the snap, the dog was pictured next to a pint, with Joe joking in the caption: “…. hammered.”
Fans were quick to flood the comments with love. One wrote: “Oh my, he’s so beautiful,” while another joked: “Aw cutie — mum and dad leading you into bad ways.” A third simply added: “Just so adorable.”
Sally couldn’t resist joining in, commenting humorously: “Who’s going to drive us home?”
However, despite their happy life together off-screen, Sally revealed to OK! Magazine earlier this year that working alongside her husband isn’t always ideal.
“I’d be perfectly happy never to share a scene with him again,” she joked. “I adore Joe, but I don’t enjoy working with him — and I never will.”
“Bless him, we just have very different ways of working,” she explained. “I like to turn up fully prepared, whereas he prefers to figure things out on set.”
She added: “And he’s so funny! I’m such a giggler — once I start, that’s it. Even when people get annoyed, it doesn’t help because I just can’t stop. He makes me laugh so much, and he does it on purpose! I get cross with him because he knows exactly what he’s doing, but he just can’t help himself.”
