Fans fear Coronation Street may be saying goodbye to a soap legend
Coronation Street fans fear that Carla Connor may be facing a heartbreaking exit.
Played by Alison King, the character has been a staple of the ITV soap since her debut in 2006 and has become a firm favourite with viewers over the years.
Carla has been at the centre of numerous major storylines during her time on the cobbles. From battling psychosis to her recent romance and engagement to Lisa Swain (Vicky Myers), her time in Weatherfield has been packed with drama.
Things have become even more intense recently, following the return of Lisa’s supposedly ‘dead’ wife Becky (Amy Cudden), who was thought to have died in the line of duty in 2021.
It was later revealed that Becky is actually alive and had been placed in witness protection after an undercover operation went awry, with Lisa’s boss, DI Costello (Daon Broni), helping to stage her death.
Since returning, the cunning Becky has been determined to reclaim her family and drive a wedge between Lisa and Carla. Last week, her plan seemed to succeed when an enraged Carla moved out of their home, furious that Lisa still couldn’t see Becky’s true intentions.
In Wednesday’s episode (December 3), it was revealed that Becky was responsible for the recent attack on DI Costello, which left him in hospital.
Determined to finally bring Becky to justice, Carla joined forces with Kit Green (Jacob Roberts) to take her down. To set their plan in motion, Carla moved back into No.6, much to Becky’s irritation.
But now, fans are starting to worry that Carla could seriously regret taking on Becky. Some have even speculated that the storyline could lead to Carla being killed off after 19 years on the ITV soap.
On a Coronation Street Facebook fan page, one viewer commented: “Hope it doesn’t backfire on Carla trying to take Becky on… Is her exit coming?” Another added: “I think Becky will kill her and end up in prison.”
A third posted: “Nooo, I couldn’t cope if they killed Carla off.” Another fan echoed the sentiment, saying: “Same here, but what does Becky have to lose?”
