Welsh actor Gareth Pierce portrays Todd Grimshaw on Coronation Street.
Coronation Street’s Todd Grimshaw, played by Gareth Pierce, is currently embroiled in a troubling domestic abuse storyline.
Todd has become trapped in an abusive and controlling relationship with his new partner, Theo Silverton, portrayed by James Cartwright, on the iconic cobbles.
In Monday’s episode, available on ITVX, viewers watched as Theo pressured Todd into training for a half marathon, forcing him to continue running even though he was clearly struggling.
As the week goes on, things worsen when Theo brings home a full-length mirror and demands that Todd use it every day to track his physique.
Later, when James Bailey jokingly flirts with Todd and stops by with some fitness gear, a jealous and irritated Theo lashes out, accusing Todd of fancying James before exploding in anger, according to Wales Online.
Welsh actor Gareth, 44, has portrayed Todd since 2020, stepping into the role after Bruno Langley, who had played the character from 2001.
Beyond Coronation Street, Gareth has appeared in a wide range of television productions over the years. His work includes Caerdydd from 2006 to 2010, Ruth Jones’ Stella from 2013 to 2014 in which he portrayed Lenny Mack, Ordinary Lies in 2016, Mr Selfridge in 2016, and The Archers from 2019 to 2024.
Gareth has also provided narration for all 11 episodes of Doctor Who: The Doctors Revisited.
Earlier this year, soap fans were surprised when they heard Gareth’s real voice for the first time. At the 2024 NTAs, he stunned viewers by giving an interview in his native Welsh.

Off-screen, Gareth married his wife, Amy Lee Pierce, in 2014. The couple, along with their daughter, live in Manchester.
Although Gareth is active on Instagram, giving fans glimpses into his life, he carefully protects his family’s privacy, particularly keeping his young daughter’s face out of sight.
