Former Coronation Street star Millie Gibson appeared on BBC’s The One Show to give an update on the period drama The Forsytes.
The actress, best known for playing Kelly Neelan on Coronation Street, is now starring in the Channel 5 period drama.
She looks completely transformed from her soap days, appearing as a red-haired ballet dancer in the six-part series.
The Forsytes explores the lives of wealthy, upper-middle-class families in late-Victorian and Edwardian England.
Millie plays the “ambitious wife” of Soames Forsyte, who becomes embroiled in a power struggle with his cousin Jolyon over control of the family business.
She also stars alongside Home and Away’s Joshua Orpin, One Day’s Eleanor Tomlinson, This Life actor Jack Davenport, and Downton Abbey’s Tuppence Middleton.
Other cast members include Francesca Annis, Jamie Flatters, Susan Hampshire, and Danny Griffin.
Set in the late Victorian era, the steamy drama delves into family tensions and troubled marriages as long-buried secrets come to light. The show has been a major hit with viewers since its premiere last month, so it’s no surprise that many fans are eager to know whether it will return for another season.
During Thursday’s (November 13) episode of BBC The One Show, hosts Clara Amfo and Scott Mills pressed Millie on whether the series would be back on screens for a second instalment.
Reading out questions from viewers, Clara asked: “Is it true there’s going to be a series two of The Forsytes?”
Clara followed up by asking: “So, you can confirm that?”
Millie responded: “Yes, I can confirm that. It is — it’s coming, and it’s bigger, better, brilliant. You’re going to love it.”
Later in the show, the actress also cleared up a major scene, admitting, “It was hard.”
Scott then asked: “Your character is a dancer, so did you have any special training for the role?”
Millie explained: “I had an incredible choreographer named Sammy, and basically, everything you see of me is from the upper waist.”
The star continued: “I had an amazing ballet double, Eloise Taylor, who handled all the pointe work. Ballerinas are true athletes, so even doing a small part of it was tough. I’m really grateful to have such an incredible team supporting me.”
She went on: “It looks fantastic. Everyone kept asking, ‘Was that you doing the dancing?’”
Demonstrating a hand movement, she added: “When I’m doing this, yes — but nothing else.”
