Soap fans believe Coronation Street’s Sally may soon have a new romantic interest.
Coronation Street’s Sally and Tim Metcalfe might be on the verge of a surprising breakup — and fans believe they’ve already figured out who Sally’s next love interest could be. Sally (played by Sally Dynevor) and Tim (Joe Duttine) have long been one of the soap’s favourite couples. Their romance began in 2013, they married in 2015, and renewed their vows in 2020.
Lately, though, their relationship has faced several challenges. This week, Tim was taken aback when he picked up a passenger in his cab — a woman named Trisha Pinkerton. He immediately recognised her, revealing that they knew each other back in the 1980s. Tim confessed that Trisha was the woman who took his virginity when he was just 14 and she was in her 20s.
After confiding in his friend Brian Packham (Peter Gunn), Tim was met with shock and concern. Brian told him that what had happened in the past was actually grooming, since Tim had been underage at the time. However, Tim refused to see it that way.
In Friday’s episode (October 10), Brian confronted Trisha and accused her of grooming Tim when he was a child — an accusation she firmly denied. Tim was furious with Brian for intervening, but Brian stood his ground and insisted that Tim needed to accept the truth about what had happened.
Later, Tim opened up to his wife Sally about his past with Trisha, and she sided with Paul, agreeing that Trisha had groomed him. Tim, however, refused to believe it and defended Trisha, leading to a heated argument between him and Sally.
Now, with more drama ahead, fans are predicting a surprising breakup for Sally and Tim — and some believe they’ve already uncovered who Sally’s next love interest will be on the cobbles.
On a Coronation Street Facebook fan page, one viewer suggested that Sally might reunite with her ex-husband Kevin Webster (Michael Le Vell). Kevin has been dealing with his own heartbreak lately after finding out about his wife Abi’s (Sally Carman) affair with his brother Carl (Jonathan Howard).
Speculating about a possible reunion, one fan wrote: “Maybe Kevin and Sally will get back together.” Another agreed, adding: “Could be — and maybe Tim will end up having an affair with that new woman.”
A third commented: “Stranger things have happened — never say never, it’s soap land after all! Can’t wait to see how this unfolds.” And another added: “Watch this space! The writers are clearly setting something up — you might be onto something.”
