Coronation Street’s Roy Cropper revealed a surprising secret on Wednesday.

Coronation Street viewers think they’ve figured out who Roy Cropper’s mysterious prison pen pal is — and believe it ties into a shocking Emmerdale-style twist.
The much-loved character, played by David Neilson, first arrived on the cobbles in 1995 and quickly became a fan favourite.

Over the years, Roy has featured in many major plots, including his marriage to Hayley (Julie Hesmondhalgh), who sadly passed away from cancer in 2014.
More recently, Roy was falsely accused of killing Lauren Bolton (Cait Fitton) and sent to prison, only to be freed once she resurfaced alive.

In Wednesday’s (November 19) episode, Nina Lucas (Mollie Gallagher) grew worried when Roy became fixated on the postman, anxiously waiting for a particular letter to arrive.

Nina pressed Roy for answers, assuming he was waiting for a hospital letter about some test results.

Roy then admitted the real reason, revealing that he had joined a programme that connects people with inmates.

“Having been in prison myself, I understand how lonely it can be. A scheme like this can really help those who have little or no support,” Roy told her.

The café owner confirmed he had been corresponding with three prisoners, though he chose not to reveal who they were.

Now, soap fans are speculating that one of Roy’s prison pen pals might tie into the upcoming Corrie–Emmerdale crossover, with many convinced it could be none other than Emmerdale serial killer Meena Jutla (Paige Sandhu).

Meena was given a minimum sentence of 75 years after murdering Leanna Cavanagh (Mimi Slinger), Andrea Tate (Anna Nightingale), and Ben Tucker (Simon Lennon) in 2022.

Although Meena remains locked up, fans have begun speculating that she might break out during the crossover and set her sights on Roy.

“Who is Roy really writing to? Could it be connected to the Emmerdale crossover?” one fan asked in a Facebook group.
