Daniel Osbourne has appeared on Coronation Street for many years, but fans are worried his role could be coming to a close.
A new fan theory suggests that Coronation Street could be preparing to say goodbye to Daniel Osbourne.
Daniel (Rob Mallard) has been a familiar face on the ITV soap for years as the son of the legendary Ken Barlow (William Roache). Throughout his time on the cobbles, Daniel has experienced plenty of memorable moments.
From his marriage to Sinead Tinker (Katie McGlynn), who tragically passed away in October 2019, to coping with the pain of grief, Daniel’s storylines have been packed with drama.
He is currently in a relationship with fellow teacher Megan (Beth Nixon), though he remains completely unaware of her true nature. Fans will remember that Daniel began dating athletics coach Megan earlier this year after she moved to Weatherfield from Hull.
Unknown to everyone, Megan has been manipulating 16-year-old Will Driscoll (Lucas Hodgson-Wale) for several months and is now pregnant with his child. Their secret relationship has so far gone completely unnoticed, and Will’s family remains unaware of Megan’s involvement. To make matters worse, a jealous and enraged Will attacked Daniel at Christmas, leaving him for dead in a backstreet. However, Will’s grandmother, Maggie (Pauline McLynn), covered for him and provided an alibi, allowing him to escape punishment.
Daniel, however, is convinced that Will is the real culprit and has been determined to prove it in recent episodes. Now, fans are beginning to worry that Daniel’s time on the show could be coming to an end.
On a Coronation Street Facebook fan page, one viewer commented: “Isn’t there a big storyline coming up for the Driscoll family? Maybe Will ends up killing Daniel?” Another agreed, saying: “You could be right.” A third added: “Poor Daniel, I can totally see them trying to cover everything up too.”
This comes after the soap confirmed five characters who could be facing a deadly fate in April. Earlier this week, a special flashback episode showed Betsy Swain (Sydney Martin) stumbling across a dead body in the street.
The residents currently in danger include Megan Walsh, Theo Silverton (James Silverton), Maggie Driscoll (Pauline McLynn), Jodie Ramsey (Olivia Frances Brown), and Carl Webster (Jonathan Howard), each with a potential motive that could see them brutally killed.
Speaking about the flashforward twist, producer Kate Brooks explained that the special episode will provide a clear endpoint for the ongoing storylines, which are intricately woven into this flashforward. She said: “I don’t think I’ve ever told a story that involves quite so many character groups. Everyone’s impacted – everyone’s affected by this story. There are so many twists and turns.”
