EastEnders viewers were left shocked on Wednesday evening as Teddy Mitchell was accused of Okie’s murder, with many turning to social media to plead for the character’s return.
EastEnders has revealed the emotional aftermath of Okie’s death, with Teddy Mitchell confessing to the murder despite being innocent.
Dedicated fans of the BBC soap will remember that Okie (Aayan Ibikunle Shoderu) had taken Harry Mitchell (Elijah Holloway) hostage after Harry threatened to expose Ravi Gulati’s (Aaron Thiara) illegal drug operations.
Kojo Asare (Dayo Koleosho) was the one who managed to free Harry, who then informed the police about Okie and Ravi’s criminal activities.
On Tuesday (November 11), Okie confronted Kojo with a knife, demanding to know what he had told the authorities, and forced him to contact Harry. When Harry arrived at the flat, a fight broke out between him and Okie, while Kojo made a run for safety.
During the struggle, Harry accidentally fatally stabbed Okie with his own knife, killing him instantly, reports OK!
Teddy Mitchell (Roland Manookian) arrived soon after and, trying to protect his son from legal trouble, took the blame for Okie’s death and was arrested.
On Wednesday (November 12), available on iPlayer, Teddy faced questioning by the police, where he concocted a series of lies about the events that led to Okie’s death.
He claimed that he had gone over to help Harry but instead came face-to-face with Okie, who was wielding a knife. Teddy then recounted the confrontation between Harry and Okie, placing himself in his son’s role when retelling the events.
Nicola (Laura Doddington), Harry, and Barney (Lewis Bridgeman) returned to Walford after the police questioning, with young Barney left heartbroken at the thought that his father could end up in prison.
Dawn arrived in Albert Square alongside Billy Mitchell (Perry Fenwick), determined to fight for her brother’s justice. She contacted Phil (Steve McFadden), who assured her he would bring in Ritchie Scott (Sian Webber) to support Teddy.
Ritchie arrived at the police station to speak with Teddy, bringing the devastating news that the officers had liaised with the Crown Prosecution Service, leaving his future looking grim.
Later, a distraught Teddy called Nicola to tell her he would be charged with Okie’s murder, leaving her so stunned she dropped the phone as it sank in that her former partner might not be coming home.
Could this mark the end of Teddy Mitchell’s story in Walford?
EastEnders fans have flooded social media, desperately hoping their favourite character isn’t leaving the show.
One heartbroken viewer wrote on X: “I AM NOT OK! Poor Teddy deserved a better send-off if this is really the end for him. Such a rushed and unfair exit. I’m devastated! #EastEnders.”
Another added: “They better not write Teddy out #EastEnders.”
A third fan vented their frustration: “Sorry, but Teddy was such a brilliant part of the show… the fact they’ve written him out is so irritating. If it’s just to give Zack and Barney a stronger bond, then all the people who made that decision… #EastEnders.”
Another asked: “Does this mean Teddy has left EastEnders? I’d be really sad to see him go — his character has really grown on me! #EastEnders.”
