Davood Ghadami looks worlds apart from his EastEnders days as he appears in the Prime Video series House of David.
The 43-year-old Essex-born star, best known for playing Kush Kazemi in Walford, now takes on the role of Eliab in the biblical drama.
The series delivers intense action and powerful storytelling as it follows young outsider David, chosen by God to replace King Saul (Ali Suliman) after Saul falls to his own arrogance. David must also confront the Philistines and their fearsome warrior Goliath (Martyn Ford).
The cast also features Ayelet Zurer as Queen Ahinoam, Indy Lewis as Mychal, Yali Topol Margalith as Mirab, Ethan Kai as Jonathan, Oded Fehr as Abner, and Louis Ferreira as Jesse.

Why did Davood leave EastEnders?
Davood’s exit came after show bosses chose not to renew his contract, planning a high-impact departure instead. He appeared on the soap from October 2014 to April 2021, and more than 100 viewers complained about the shocking scene in which his character was pushed in front of a Tube train, according to OK!.
Following his EastEnders exit, Davood quickly landed another major role, joining Holby City as Eli Ebrahimi. However, his time on the medical drama was short-lived — just 18 months — as the long-running BBC series was axed after 23 years, with its final episode airing in March 2022.
In 2023, Davood reprised his role as Eli Ebrahimi in a special Casualty episode celebrating 75 years of the NHS. The installment saw Eli tending to a motorcyclist who had suffered a severe accident.

Davood has also portrayed Ben Tyler in Beyond Paradise and appeared on the celebrity edition of BBC’s Pointless alongside James Bye, known for his role as Martin Fowler.
During his time on EastEnders, Davood’s character Kush was known for his clean-shaven look and fit, muscular physique. Since leaving the soap, he seems to have ramped up his fitness routine and grown a full beard, giving him a striking new appearance.
The actor regularly shares updates with his 126,000 Instagram followers, posting photos and videos from his workouts and current projects.

Recently, Davood shared a gripping clip from House of David, captioning it: “Two warriors: one battles the enemy, one battles himself. Catch the latest episode of House of David — now streaming (US only).”
Fans quickly reacted with enthusiasm. One wrote, “My favourite show,” while another commented, “Absolutely the best show ever.”
A third fan added, “I love this series. Incredible acting,” and someone else said, “Can’t wait to watch this.” One admirer gushed, “Words can’t describe it! This season is phenomenal,” while another called it “absolutely jaw-dropping.”
